QOTD 07/10/08

Happy Thursday!!

Today's question is: If you could move your date forward, would you? Or do you like having all this time to plan with less (I hope) stress?

I love being a 2010 bride... but, financially, if we could move the date up to sometime in late 2009, I would. It's really finances that are holding us back, if we had them... I'd definitely move the date up.

right now, i would not move the date up, because i would want to keep my same day and just make it 2009 and that would only be about 5 months from now , if it were 6 months ago i would have said yes

as it is, this morning driving to work i was thinking this time next year i will only have 5 months left and that already started to freak me out

I would if we could. My parents wanted to wait till my sister was out of college this way they had more money.

The only reason we're getting married in 2010 is because the day we're getting married on our 10 year anniversary. It falls on a Friday. We would have only picked a Friday or Saturday to get married, so if our anniversary fell on a Friday in 2009, we would have done it then.

i wouldnt change the date, I would keep it 2010.

We are getting married on my parents anniversary, 10/10...and it just so happened to work out as having our date10/10/10.

Also I dont think we are financially ready to get married any sooner or even stable in our careers enough right now.

I am on 08er crashing....I had a long engagment (was engaged on march 8 2007) and let me tell you...its is so fun to have a long engagment. For one you can really research and book slowly...its not as overwhelming..also its just so fun to enjoy the engagment period with fh...

i would love to make my wedding sooner but being that i will be teaching soon, i wanted a summer wedding so we can go on our honeymoon right after the wedding and one year to plan it all (move it to summer 2009) was out of the question!

If money was no issue and we could move it up, FH would want it moved up to a month from now, just enough time for me to get everything ready

No because i don't think we would have enough money by 2009 in order to pay for the wedding and get a place to live!

i wish i could get married tomorrow, but when i come back down to reality I know that it is not the right time. I think 2010 is perfect, FH will be past his probation period at work, i'll be finishing up my masters, and we'll enter a marriage with (hopefully) no debt.

if we could afford it i would def move it up. we picked 201- because of finances and we wanted february. we got engaged in feb so to pick feb of 09 would only give us a year and that wasnt enough time

I totoally would... i need to finish my masters degree first and that won't happen til August 2009. At that point FH is still in school until December 2009 so January 2010 made the most sense....

I like being a 2010 bride...if money was not an issue we would have done it sometime during the summer of 09, but my brother got engaged 3 weeks after I did and he is getting married Oct 09 so 2010...is perfect.

I wouldnt because I want the time to plan everything. I am happy Im having a long engagement, even though at times I wish the time would come faster.

we wanted a long engagement so we could plan and be settled with stuff before we got married. i tried convincing FH to change the date to halloween of 09, but he said no

I would keep it the same. I feel like I need a long time to plan otherwise I'll get overwhelmed.

If we could afford it then I would move the date up to 2009. Weddings are so expensive!

Yes, I definitely would move it up. We held off because we wanted winter (for discounted rates), it's more time to save, and I'll be running my dissertation in the fall... but I do get bummed thinking about how far off it is, and that I'll be 30 when I'm married!!

Everyone says it will go fast, but that stupid wedding countdown at the top of the page is showing otherwise!

Re: QOTD 07/10/08

I would not. I did it on that day because it will be my FH and I 20 year anniversary. I was 15 when we got together. He was my first and only!! He wanted to get married a long time ago but I never wanted to get married. I know so many people who are either divorced or going through a divorce. I figured we had something great and why change it. But we would like to have kids in 2 years so I figured we should get married. If it hasn't changed in 18 years why should it change then. We have also been living in sin for the past 8 years.

We are basically already married.
