QOTD 1-3-12

Since I'm sure we will be getting some more brides on this site shortly after all the holiday and NYE engagements, what is the one piece of advice you would give a newly engaged bride as she starts to plan the wedding?

My advice is to figure out how much money you have to play with and who is giving you the money before you let others add their two sense to the planning (especially to who MUST be invited, or what you HAVE to HAVE at the wedding!)

Join LIW! oh wait, they prob will anyway

but definitely come up with a budget and know that you don't have to spend a lot of $$$$$$ to have a nice wedding. A little DIY goes a long way!

Enjoying being engaged before you start planning!! I already forgot what those first few days were like.

Also, make a decision and move on. Don't second guess yourself.

Finally, you do not need to meet with every vendor or research every detail. You (hopefully) didn't keep looking after you met FH, don't do that now...you will drive yourself CrAzY!!!

To enjoy being engaged and before anything figure out a budget and research prices.

My advice is definitely enjoy being engaged then figure out a budget. Everyone will try to put their two sense but at the end of the day it's your wedding!

Utilize the LIW site to the fullest. There is a wealth of information.

Happy Planning!

Make a gameplan right away of what you want accomplished first and then a timeline for everything else and stick to it as much as you can, updating as you go. It has really helped me stay on track and I reassess where I am at the end of every month so it helps me plan out what appointments and research I need to do in the coming weeks.

I guess in short, be organized from the beginning and stay organized! :)

Take some time to enjoy being engaged before you begin planning. That floating on air feeling is temporary.

Make a realistic budget, stick to it.

Don't rush! There is nothing wrong with having a longer engagement. Give yourself enough time plan, make payments and celebrate.

Have EXACTLY the kind of wedding you want-don't worry about what everyone will think or say! If you are committed to it, everyone else will be too!

Since I don't want to repeat all the great advice already given, the only thing I can add would be

Your not going to make everyone happy, so just make your FH & yourself happy. That's what matters most.

Avoid a long engagement. You'll drive yourself crazy with all the extra time you'll have.
