Hello ladies. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and for all the brides that are getting married on 10-10-10 today is your two year mark !!! TGIF !!!
So here is my very first qotd and botw !
Fh and I are trying to figure out where we want to go on our honeymoon. There are so many nice resorts and suits to choose from !
The question is... Would you rather go on a very extravagant honeymoon because its a once in a lifetime vacation? Or would you rather go on a more simple honeymoon and be able to buy things that will last you many years to come...such as a big tv, furniture, or $$ for a down payment on a home??
my answer- I always thought I would go on this big extravagant honeymoon with every option, but the more I think about it , its just a vacation, and I could be spending money or things that will last us many years

I don't want to do anything crazy and over board. I just want to go to an all inclusive resort, sit on the beach, relax & enjoy ourselves. After all the wedding craziness I think all we will want is just that.
I rather not go over board and have the money when we get back to buy the things we need like a big bed, tv,..etc

FH really wants to go to Hawaii and I said that is way too much $. We will do something nice but not over the top. We will have plenty of time in our lives to go whereever

Prior to looking at my 410K plan & realizing that I have lost basially all my money, I would say go on a small honeymoon & save the money for something else. However since I have lost all my money & FH & I have never gone on any type of vacation together I am going to be pushing for the extravagant honeymoon.

i was actually thinking about this the other day. i think i would rather go on a simple vacation and have all the other things. like ot be able to put money down on a house, and buy somethings that we will need.
we havent discussed anything yet but who knows. things can change in 2 years. we will see.

We wanna do a big extravagent honeymoon during the summer, about a month after the wedding. We are short on money cuz of our mortgage, bills, and the tv and furniture that we already have lol but that's why the honeymoon is one thing we will be saving up for! We either wanna travel around Europe for 2 weeks or go to some secluded island in the Carribean.

we are not big extravagant people to begin with, its just not our style, so that kind of honeymoon just would not be us. We just want a nice all inclusive on the beach, just want to relax after all the crazy planning. Would rather spend all the money on the house and the rest of our lives

WE really want to go to Italy but the wedding is coming out to be a lot and we don't know if we could actually afford Italy. I am really not into extravagant trips as long as I am with FH and we both are having a wonderful time it's good enough for me there will always be trips that we'll make on our vacation time so it could mean that later on we'll have a bit of more money to go on more expensive places. So the caribbean is a beautiful destination and I wouldn't mind going there for my HM there at all

We are usually pretty simple people HOWEVER we are totally going all out with our honeymoon. Not sparing any expense bc this is once in a lifetime. Of course we are trying to set a budget but FH promised me we can do whatever I want. Actually, he said it was the honeymoon or diamond wedding band....I took the honeymoon! I figured I could always upgrade my band in a few years.

we both love vacations ... and we usually buy things forthe house all the time ... a honeymoon is like the ULTIMATE vacation where i think u should spend money with ur eyes closed !!!

i know Hawaii is expensive, but it has always been a dream of mine to go there on my honeymoon and its a once in a lifetime thing, so we are gonna pay for the extra cost to go there. My aunt even told me 'if you don't go for your honeymoon then you will never go..' and i think thats true!

i dont know if i would say we want an extravagent HM but it might end up that way. I travel a lot with my parents, while FH has not been out of the country. So we agreed to do something that we may not get a chance to do later on in life once we have real bills and a family. SO if it ends up being on the more expensive trip we are ok with it...I have been to Hawaii 2xs already and i lived in Europe for a while so those arent really new or different. so we are either thinking mexico or (if we can get the time off) tahiti.

We are going to go for an extravagant trip -- probably some combo of Tahiti, Fiji and Australia. We already have the house and furniture etc...so I think this is the one time we can splurge on an 'out of this world' vacation and not feel guilty. And FH has two kids...so after this...I have a feeling disney will be in my future. I want to get MY trip before that :)
My friend spent a fortune on her honeymoon in Hawaii...went top of the line for everything...and thinks it was the best decision b/c now that she has two kids...that wont be happening again for a LONG time.

i would love to do like a 3 week HM to fiji or hawaii but i think im gona keep it simple and do a 10days cruise or go to aruba.... i was talking to a lady i work wiith about it and she swears by aruba her n her DH went there on their HM and for the last 8 years they have gone evey yeear and just got time share there now.... i think it would be good for us since i love the sun and the water n relaxing n he loves the casinos.... they have both n a good nightlife.... im so excited lol i wanna go away now lol.....

I travel often btw. work, martial arts, and personal vacations. So, I know how to go places on the cheap. I've been to Hawaii, majority of the Carribean islands, Ireland, England, and Japan each for less than $2000, usually for less than $1500. I've gotten to be VERY good with airline miles, rewards points, and online travel companies. Not too mention I've done backpacking. You can go places for low prices, you just can't go first class.
That being said the Honeymoon is going to blow anything I've done before right out of the water!

funny you bring this up today because we are currently talking about this. one day i say lets keep it simple and then the next day im like screw it lets go all out. we went to the travel agent yesterda to get info on the french polynesian and hawaii...if we can get a good deal i'd like to go for extravagant

The Honeymoon is probably one of the things I care least about. No matter where I go with FH, I know we'll have a great time. Even if its a very long weekend away.

That is us too!!!!! Sandals in Saint Lucia here we come!!!!!
Actually ours is not gonna be on to tight of budget since this is our wedding gift for my FIL's so they told we can go where we want but we are gonna go to Saint Lucia and get a private bungalow with a butler and everything!
