So with everyone trying to save money for our weddings and the economy being in such bad shape, how does everyone plan to get through the upcoming holidays? Will you get fh something small? not exchange at all ? still buy your usual big gifts like every other year, but breaking the bank ? Please share your thoughts.
my answer: we put a certain amount of money away every month for the wedding and clearly there is no room in our budget for christmas presesnts. plus, my bday is next month and fh's b-day is 5 days after x-mas! we are thinking about getting eachother something small, or nothing and just going out to a nice dinner. we will probably get our parents something small and tell the rest of the fam we can't exchange. it wont be like every other x-mas but its only for 2 years until the wedding is over. then we can hopegfully go back to normal

We're doing our normal joint gift.....this year it's the WII!!!!!! and we'll still get something small for one another. Not sure how nice Santa will be to the kids though. That is the part that stinks. We're thinking of starting now and getting things going.

I really don't want to do xmas this year, although FH feels the need to get me something. There's little things that I want, but I don't need anything. I would love to get FH something (gps, since he lost his), but i don't know, we'll see.

Re: QOTD 10-11
i tried proposing the idea to everyone to cancel christmas...didnt go over well. as for FH and i, we arent doing gifts this year, i suggested depositing extra money into the wedding account instead of putting it towards gifts. we may just do dinner.
i want to get my parents something small and im telling my brothers i dont want to exchange this year. saves everyone money yay!!

Re: QOTD 10-11
I told FH we should get each other something small...but the chance of that happening is always all. Although, there isnt one thing I actually want.
Nothing will really change for his kids and my family. They'll get the same gifts as always. Maybe we'll tighten our belts next yr...but i am not too worried this yr

i have FHs birthday in november too. we will prob exchange just small things that we really need. my aunt gave us a $100 gift card when we got engaged so we will use it to purchase something we can use at our apartment.

Re: QOTD 10-11
Well fh broke our deal! It was my bday the other day and he surprised me with a VERY expensive gift! (Which I told him not to get me) So I told him I didnt want anything for xmas this year...I dont know what I am going to get him for his bday and xmas, because they are both coming soon. I have a Christmas club account so I already have christmas money saved for my family and friends.
