Morning ladies!!! Happy Thursday! I can't wait for this weekend, it has been such a busy week!

Recently I have been thinking more about how my name will change after FH and I get married. Therefore, the QOTD is:

* Do you like FH's last name?

* When you get married, are you keeping your last name, taking FH's or using both names?

* If you are changing your name to FH's, are you a little sad or are you happy that you won't have your last name anymore?

For me, I really like FH's last name! When we get married I am planning on changing my name to FH's. I am both a little sad (tiny bit!) and happy to depart with my last name. I've always said that I definitely wanted to take FH's last name, but now that it's getting closer I'm having separation anxiety with my last name. jk! It's just that it has been a part of who I am for my whole life and I really like the uniqueness of it. Although I will be a little sad I am also SO excited to take FH's!!! He has the same last name as a current baseball player, so I'm getting ready for all of the 'any relation to..' questions that FH always gets!

* Do you like FH's last name?
Yeah. It took some getting used to because it is not spelt how its pronounced.

* When you get married, are you keeping your last name, taking FH's or using both names?
Im taking his.

* If you are changing your name to FH's, are you a little sad or are you happy that you won't have your last name anymore?
A little of both.

UGGGGGHHHHHH...

All my life I've had a long, Polish last name that no one can seem to pronounce or spell. I was actually talking to one of the career counselors at school and we sere joking about our names and she said 'well, at least you have the chance to marry someone... maybe you'll get lucky and get a Smith'

I said 'No, I got lucky with a Co********** '
11 letter, 5 syllables, Italian, impossible to read or pronounce. FH's mom had to teach him a song when she taught him to spell it.

So I was hoping for Smith, lol, but you can't choose who you love.

I any event, I'm happy to take my husband's name, but I'm also kinda proud of my last name and I'll miss it. I only have brothers so I'm kinda gonna feel left out. So I have mixed feelings, but it's super important to FH and there's no way I could torture people (or my kids!) and hyphenate so I'll take his name for the sake of the family we will have one day.

LOVE IT! It's a common last name and everyone can pronounce it (unlike my last name lol)

I am taking his last name... no hypens for me. If I were in a position at work I could understand hyphenating my name

it's definitely going to take a little while to get used to. I mean when you have a name for 26 years it's kind of weird to just stop saying it lol. At least I have my brother to carry on the family name.

Yea. It's nice. Typical Italian name

Im taking his. If I were to hyphenate it, it would be one long Italian tongue twister!

I'm glad to be changing it. I've had this name for 32 years so far and it's time for a change! lol It's going to be interesting when signing my name though. How many things am I gonna mess up before I finally get it right? lol

um...its alright, i come from 1st and 2nd generation in america families so my last name is very ethnic i think and now that i think about losing it i realize how nice it is, FH's last name is very white/american which im not crazy about, but it flows alright.

I think because of what i just said i will keep my last name professionally

I think i'll be changing it in most cases where it counts...aka passing it on to your kids, so yea im a little sad about that cause i really love my last name !!

Its ok, nothing really unique. Its a lot easier to pronounce than my last name now.

I havent decided on this yet. Because if I hyphenate it....it's gonna be insanely long. If I dont take FH's name, then he's gonna be sad...blah! I have a year and a half to decide.

If i do in fact decide to change my last name I'd be sad it's not my name anymore. Because I have a great last name now, its unique and translated in italian my name is Dawn The Dawn.....Also it makes me sad because my dad had five girls and no sons...and there's no one left to carry on the name. :(

Yes, I like FH's last name. I always wanted to marry an Italian to keep an Italian last name and he's 100%, so I was happy about that! Plus his last name is 7 letters vs my 13 letter long last name, so I am veryyyyyy happy that my name will be shorter.

Taking FH's for sure. Never even thought about keeping mine and hyphenating is out of the question. A 20 letter long last name?! ughhh i couldn't handle that!

happy bc it will be nice to have the same last name, then I'll feel like a 'family' and also, it will be a lot easier to sign my name!!!! I hate having to give out my last name bc it just takes forever to spell out!

NO!

It would be wayyy too long to use both. So I'm changing it to his.

I'm very sad/depressed about it. No one can pronounce it right, it doesn't go with my first name. I'll miss my last name it flowed and it wasn't that long and 80% of the time it's pronounced right. FH's is pronounced right like NEVER.

I will be taking his last name. since we are both italian both of our last names are just as difficult to pronounce lol

I actually havent thought about this that much, but now when i do i guess i am a bit sad. but i think ill get over it

I do like FH's last name. It is very pretty and very italian (I like names that end in 'a' in general).

I'm going to be taking FH's last name. I'm traditional and always planned on taking my FH's last name.

I am not really sad about changing my name because all of my life I have had to explain how my last name isn't really mine!

So my grandfather changed his last name from something EXTREMELY Polish to my Last Name (something extremely generic). Whenever anyone asks me what it is (i.e. Italian, English, Irish, etc.) I don't have a response. All I can say is I don't really know!

I think it will be nice to have an ethnic name for a chance that I don't feel the need to explain. And since I am partially Italian, it all works out.

I definitely won't hyphenate......legally for like medical and banking and stuff I will change it to his. But Idk if I will change it professionally...I'm a freelance graphic designer, I have had clients for years now and I'm a little threatened by changing what is essentially the name of my business b/c it is just my name. But FH isn't so thrilled about that, so I may just change it across the board and deal.

I'm a little sad only b/c my name is just Jill, not Jillian, and his last name is short...so I feel like it's all too short and whimpy. I don't even have a middle name to beef it up.........

-I am a little sad, just because i have had my last name for all my life that i think it will be a little strange to be something else.

I definitely like FH's last name, it means August in Italian and Spanish (FH is puerto rican)

Honestly some days I want to change it and other days I dont. My last name is very Italian and I love the way it sounds with my full first name. Plus i feel like it's part of my identity. Also, I'm in medical school and will be getting married right before i graduate..my father is also a Dr. so i kinda always wanted to keep my maiden name professionally but then again it would probably just be easier to change it and have a new professional name as well.

I am a little sad..but also i'm pretty traditional and want FH to know I'm his...is that silly?
