QOTD 10/29

because technically it is already wednesday i will do this one early (today, har har har)

i digreess....

since we're currently in a recession, money is definitely on most people's minds... so i ask you today...

where did you find you were able to save the most money so far?

one of my talented friends graciously offered to design an engagement invitation for me, so all i had to do in the end was go to staples and buy the pre-cut card stock/blank invitation pack in ivory (set of 100 envelopes and cards) and ran about 60 of them through my color laser printer and voila engagement invites and it cost me less than 25 bucks plus the cost of stamps...granted i wasn't fussy about the type of 'engraving' or 'letterpress-ing' on these things i was able to save a lot of money by NOT having to bring these s u c k e r s to get professionally printed, i was also able to save a lot of time too since i didn't have to wait for them to be done and sent back to me and such

i'll try to post a photo when i get to work

We saved a lot of money the good old DIY way. So far I've made our engagement invitations, made the gifts to give to our BP, and will be making the favors for our engagment party. I'm sure throughout this wedding process, the biggest way we will save money other than booking in the winter, is just doing a lot of DIYs.

One way I can think of is my friend who's been doing my hair since i'm a baby. She's gonna do free trials for makeup and hair on me and do both for the day of the wedding. She told me she will hardly charge me anything so that's really saving some money. We've also cut back a lot on expenses like food for the house and going out. It's been helping us to save more and more money.

We honestly have not 'tried' to save money yet but we have from using the same vendor for both the e-party and the wedding. we were able to save money with 2 vendors already.

Besides my little DIY projects, I would say I have saved the most money on limos. I got a great deal that no one came even close to beating.

I saved a lot of money on photo and video.

To save more money I don't plan on having flowers ( only for the boks) and plan to do a lot of DIY

Saved a lot by going with an independent photog and will save a lot with DIY. Helps that I have a crafty mother.

So far I haven't really tried, but I did save on my favors for the wedding by buying them last year after christmas for 75% off (we are doing christmas ornaments), later on I will by doing DIY projects that I can

So far i've saved money by having my engagement party as a bbq in my house, i ordered my STD magnets on vistaprint, purchased some items on sale at Michaels like bathroom basket and ribbon, i booked a hall that wasn't above my means, my wedding date is in March( an off month) and it's an afternoon wedding. Also i might make my own centerpieces not sure yet and my own invites.

Save? What's that? No, seriously, I think I got a really great price on my photo/video package. I also bought the personalized matchbooks that are on sale at the knot for more than half off. But, since I wasn't planning on buying those to begin with, maybe it's not really saving.

we havent gone further than booking a church and hall so we havent saved much money yet...
But we have a fmaily friend who does hair and makeup so I will probably go with her..then maybe do some DIYS to cut done on the little costs here or there...

We dont really have a saving plan....since both our pay checks are stable. As of right now we each have an amount of money we have to save and each month we put a part of our paychecks into the bank that plus the money from our engagement gifts has left us good for paying deposits =)

I saved some money by moving my wedding to March. For everything else we haven't tried to save... I have a budget for each vendor and so far they've all come within budget.

FH and I are saving a lot by having a thursday wedding. I'm also a very good negotiator so I got us some really great deals with some of our vendors. In some ways I'm saving by doing DIY, but not entirely because you can really take an idea far sometimes and it will cost you.

i guess i can say that we saved money having our e-party at home instead of out somewhere but that is also questionable... it was pretty but my parents paid for it with the help of FILs too..
we ordered out e-party invites from vistaprint for MUY cheapo.

other than that we are just really trying to stick with our budget.. and get the most and best that we can afford.

i wanted to have it at home, but it would've been impossible for parking (dang city streets)
