Happy Halloween!!!! (LIW should develop holiday icons, seriously it would be perfect to insert here)
anyways, todays question is about tradition..
every wedding is unique in its own way because no two couples out there are the same... even though most weddings follow a similar program, there are always variances between one and the next,
what kinds of traditional(family, cultural, societal etc. ) elements are you including on your wedding day? or what kinds of traditional elements do you plan on eliminating?
i'll be wearing three dresses on my wedding day, white wedding dress, red chinese qipao and an evening wear dress (maybe a cute cocktail dress, i haven't decided)
HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!

Re: QOTD 10/31
i really don't think my family has any special wedding traditions. but i guess we will keep with the not seeing each other before, my dad walking me down the aisle & the cutting of the cake.

We are probably doing the same things. Other than that, a funny tradition the boys in my family have is to do this crazy dance at the reception to the song 'Just a Jiggalo' or however you spell it

Re: QOTD 10/31
Traditions we are following:
Not seeing each other before the wedding.
Wedding in a church
Wearing a white wedding dress
Traditions we are NOT following:
No bok toss / garter fling. We are having an anniversary dance instead.
No bridal party table. My BP will sit with the guests they know (they don't know each other that well).

Re: QOTD 10/31
Hmm. There are alot of Irish cultural traditions. Let me see if I have the list with me...Ah ha! Found it.
Beltaine: Decorating a May bush, or small tree decorated with bright colored ribbons and a ball made of paper at the top. It's an older holiday that Irish women usually married around.
Druid Wedding Vow: We will probably be using this as a reading. I can post the whole thing elsewhere if interested.
Connemara Marble: Called an oathing stone and made out of the very popular connemara marble factory. Couples hold it while reciting their vows.
Handfasting: 'tying the knot.' Couples hands are bound together with a cord. Ceremonial only, we won't be staying that way. LOL.

didnt see this but this is what we are doing
except I might be getting rid of the bo-k and garter toss and both my parents are walking me down the aisle...
Another thing we are doing at the mass is presenting flowers to the blessed mother and a unity candle
Am I the only freak who likes to eat jordan almonds?

I am doing the same except the Father/daughter dance. FMIL is on oxygen and walker and wont be able to dance with FH. I dont want her to feel bad that she cant dance, so I am just eliminating that part
