Is there any traditional wedding things to do at the reception that you aren't doing?
We are not doing the garter removal/toss or bouquet toss. I think not doing them, though, is becoming more traditional as the last few weddings I went to didn't do it. I just think I would be so uncomfortable. lol

I'm torn about these. FH said he wanted to plan something having to do with the garter toss. I am not particularly fond of the way ladies behave during the bouquet toss. I've seen people do other things to gie away a bouquet like having all the couples dancing on the dance floor and having each couple sit down if they've been married less than 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, etc. years. The bouquet goes to the couple who's been married the longest. I like that. I guess this is another conversation to have with FH. LOL
**Definitely not doing the cake face smash! FH has already been warned. LOL

No garter toss, I don't think. We may do a bouquet toss.

y FH is not very comfortable doing the garter toss but I kinda want to...Not doing a Venetian hour which is traditional in my italian family...everyone is stuffed by the end of the wedding I feel it is a waste of money.

We're not doing garter and bouquet either. It stops the party and I always hated going out for the bouquet and watching the garter removed and put on someone else. Just not our style.

Is it bad that I don't want to do the father/daughter dance? Don't get me wrong - I love my dad very much but we're not terribly sentimental and I can't see either one of us doing the father/daughter dance at the wedding. We did a dance for my Sweet 16 and it was SUPER AWKWARD!
He didn't dance with my sisters when they got married, so it's not as if we're really breaking tradition in our family (my family is also a bit off the wall so this shouldn't come as a surprise).

If my FH did that the wedding would quickly turn into a funeral.

I think it's fine! I don't think you should do anything that makes you uncomfortable at your wedding.

Thanks! I think that's the only traditional thing we may skip. We're also seeing each other before the ceremony to take pictures, but so many people are doing it I don't even know if it's considered non-traditional.
