Hope you had a great Thanksgiving

What old holiday traditions are you going to incorporate and what new holiday traditions do you hope to start??

My family decorates for Hanukkah and Christmas the day after Thanksgiving. FH has really enjoyed being a part of this. Our new tradition is to watch Love Actually that night too. It helps us get into the holiday mood!

Happy Black Friday Shopping everyone!

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving too!!!

Family traditions...FH has been dressing up as Santa for his neice ever since she was born. I would hope that either one of my FBILs would do the same for our children.

I LOVE Easter!! I'm hoping to be able to re-instate some of the things I grew up with one I am married.

I hope to learn how to make zeppoles as my mom and aunt make them for every Christmas Eve and I would like to have them for every Christmas Eve.

One that I would hope to start is either FH or one of our brothers dressing up as Santa. 3 of my cousins are in their 40s and when I was younger used to do this for us younger cousins. I hope to start that again for my niece and my future children.

I think Im going to start the tradition of decoration for Christmas the day after thanksgiving since Im home the day after and I hate going to the store on black friday.

I think the tradition we will keep is when my parents move to FL and they might not be here would be to have the in laws over for the 7 fishes on Christmas Eve. And going to midnight mass. We went to Christmas Day mass last year and it was so packed Id rather just stay up late then get up early.

ANd when we have kids I know ill keep our family tradition of opening at least one give on Christamas Eve

hmmmm..i just yesterday told my family that every thanksgiving we should go around and say what were thankful for during dinner-i want to do this every year from now on, especially once we have kids

my fam doesnt really have a set day to do our christmas decorations, but i know i want to do them right around thanksgiving..i spent today helping my friend put up all of her decorations/tree and making christmas cookies-it was her first holiday on her own

next year fh and i plan to put up our tree on thanksgiving night, bc he has to work the day after..so ill prob put up all the other decorations myself on friday

i want to start a xmas cookie baking party every year-fils do this and i love it..its so much fun and everyone leaves with a ton of cookies

think im ambitious enough??

I LOVE the cookie idea... I did this once a few years ago and made everyone bring copies of the recipe with them so people could take it if they wanted and then I sent everyone home with a container of cookies. It was so much fun!!!

Some other traditions I want to start/maintain...

We usually go around the table and say what we are thankful for. We didn't this year since it would have been to difficult for my grandma but it is a very nice tradition and fun to hear what some people come up with.

I DEFINITELY want to decorate and put a tree up the day after Thanksgiving every year. I decorated all morning and then we went and bought our tree today... but then the tree didn't fit in the stand so now we need to buy a saw and try to fix that. It was fun until the tree incident.

AND I'm going to make my kids watch the Charlie Brown holiday movies... no one will ever watch them with me so I figrue when I have kids I can torture them with it I was thinking of making everyone watch A Charlie Brown Christmas, Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer at the g2g!!! Haha!!!

We have a tradition of taking my daughter into the city every Christmas and spending the entire day there. We also pick a Sunday and bake ALL day!

we wont be doing anything different just yet... once we have a few kids we'll probably stay home on Christmas Day and Thanksgiving, rather than traveling
