~*~***QOTD - 12/17/09***~*~

This is a late one tonight! even for me! haha

Ok Ladies..With the economy being the way it is, how do you and FH feel about taking a HONEYMOON?? Where are you thinking of going? or are you just doing something small & saving the $ for a house etc.?

Originally I was thinking extravagant all the way..then all these vendors were booked & I was like woah..Where is money for a honeymoon going to fit into this?? FH is all about going crazy & that this is the one time we will ever do take a vacation like this..but I just feel there needs to be a happy medium. We are looking into the Sandals Resort in Antigua. The newer side, the Mediterranean Village part. Out of all the places I have researched and looked at this just took my breath away. I ordered the free DVD & book for all the Sandals & showed FH them all. But we agreed on that one. He originally wanted to go for like 2 weeks but there's no way in hell..so the compromise is maybe 9 days 7 the least. I just want to be able to have money left over for a house & not blow it all on the honeymoon JMO. ..can't we all just win LOTTO?? haha

* I was also thinking about Aruba but I was told it's not as tropical as some of the other islands & Antigua would be better..any thoughts??

FH and I have been very blessed with this category. A family friend of his owns a condo in Spain and offered it to us for our honeymoon. We really dont mind cooking or whatever. We probably wont have to, but it saves A LOT of money on room and board. I dont know exactly where In Spain it is, but I do know that it's on the water.

Im so excited!

We are going to either do something in the Caribbean for a week, the month after our wedding...but it'll be spring break that week, so it needs to be somewhere there aren't children b/c I am allergic to them.

Or...we'll postpone the honeymoon until the summer (FH is a teacher and I work for myself) and go to Croatia. FH's dad is from there and the entire family is there...we may be due to visit them again that summer, so we are thinking about honeymooning in Dubrovnik for a week or so at an all inclusive, and then driving a few hours up the coast afterward to spend a couple days with his family before coming home. We'll see!

FH and I are returning to our favorite vacation spot, Couples Swept Away in Negril, Jamaica. We thought is was the most relaxing vacay we've ever been on and that's exactly what the HM should be like. We thought about doing someplace new but both of us like the idea that we know what we are in for because we've been there already and did not have one bad experience.

And the cost is what's most amazing about it, it's so affordable! 7 nights (we may do a few days more but undecided), all-inclusive (we don't have to bring a single cent in spending $$ - although we still bring a little with us just in case), they have everything you need there from beach, water activities, swim up bar, tons of restaurants, and nightclubs. We are planning on going a while after the wedding because it's cheaper towards the end of November/December which is when we went last time. We stayed in a regular suite last time and for the 7 days including flight it cost us $2300 total. For the HM, we are probably going to upgrade to beachfront suite which would probably bring it somewhere around $3000 - and that's when booking with the early bird special in October 2010.

I just got very exciting thinking about this LOL

We are totally going on our HM - it will be during the summer when FH is done w/ school (he's a teacher). Not sure where yet - we have ideas (well I have ideas).

We have never taken a 'real' vaca before - weekend trips here and there but nothing that has required a plane LOL so this will probably be our first real vaca. We def. want to go the all inclusive route - and island is a must.

Though - he wants Disney LOL for me, that is not a HM that's work and I wouldn't do so well with all the little kids running around.

I want a place to eat, drink, relax and do marital type things lol

FH and I are not having a traditional HM right after the wedding....since we are getting married at the beginning of our last semester of medical school...we will wait till the following summer or spring break to take a HM. And even with that time we probably won't go all out b/c of all our debt of student loans...FH and I are thinking about going to Vieques, PR for a week since it's somewhere we have both wanted to go to and it won't be too too expensive and we can see his family in PR too! it all works out!

I was originally going to do cheap Caribbean - I might still do that.

But right now my 1st payment is due on my year mark (Feb 19th) and I'm considering paying off my reception hall that date so all the other money can go to paying off the rest of my vendors/honeymoon. So we will see... kinda up in the air right now.

I'm also thinking of checking out the resort in Jamaica that Jessie keeps talking about lol she makes it sound really nice lol and I've never been to Jamaica.

FH and I are deff. taking a HM but we will not go all out for it. My dream would be Hawaii or Australia but that will be way to much so we will prob do the Caribbean or something more affordable. And maybe if the economy picks up soon we can do something better for a babymoon

I was saying we should just go to florida and stay for a few days and do something small for now but then FH's dad offered to pay for our honeymoon as our wedding gift!! He overheard us say how we prob cant afford one. But he hasnt told us a price range of what he is giving us so were holding off on planing where we want to go.

since my mom is mostly footing the bill for the RH (thank god, she is the best!) we are looking into england and ireland. of course, we have no definite plans, but we'll see!

in another note, my friend went there this past summer and had a blast! the pictures were gorgeous, too!

the whole reason why we're waiting for 2011 to get married is so that we can go on a HM right after the wedding, so we will DEFINITELY be taking a HM....as far as the where we are going depends on the budget, we have an amount in mind, but that can change as we start booking vendors and seeing all the bills rack up I would like for this to be a once in a lifetime type vaca, but I don't know if the budget will allow for something super extravagant like Bora Bora or something dream-like like that! Also, some places (like Bermuda) won't be that warm since we'll be going in December, so that sort of limits us too.

i wanted to go to Greece.... but i have no idea what its gonna cost... im gonna come up with a few ideas and sit with a travel agent and see what makes the most sense for us economically....

BTW you can set up a way for guests to pay for certain parts of your honeymoon either for a shower gift or even a wedding gift.... my aunt did this i thought it was cool... u go to the website ( i will find out the specifics) and on there it gives a brief description of your honeymoon and theres items guests can purchase like a registry except for ur honeymoon... ex: 1 night of hotel... or couple massage... or an excursion i think its kinda good idea if u need help financially
