QOTD 12/2/13

Thank you for choosing me to be bride of the week! I hope I don't repeat any questions that have been asked already.

FH and I got our Christmas tree yesterday. This is our first year with a real tree and FH was telling me that we should make it a yearly tradition to go on December 1st and chop down our own tree! We can carry this tradition on from year to year. That way when we have a family, we can have our own traditions!

On that note, what are some holiday traditions that you have or would like to carry on after you get married?

Both mine and FH's families open a gift on Christmas Eve. I'd like to keep that tradition. I'd also like to start a tradition of spending the entire day in our PJs! Much more relaxing and less fussy! LOL

We open our gifts on Christmas Eve as well. We usually go by my mom's for dinner (I want to keep the 7 fishes tradition), then home to exchange gifts. Then, on Christmas Day, we exchange gifts with the family and have brunch. I would like to keep that going.

FH and I have been getting our own tree for the last three years but this year is special since I'm moved in and can fully decorate the whole house and go a little crazy :) Putting up the tree and decorating while listening to chrismas music is quickly becoming my favorite tradition.

FH is super italian so Christmas Eve is spent with his family in staten island with the 7 fishes and opening presents at midnight. Then we head to Long Island first thing Christmas morning to spend the day of with my family (we don't really do much on Christmas eve). I'm always SO thankful this is the one holiday we don't need to alternate families to celebrate with. We get the best of both worlds :)

FH live at my parents while we are saving for the wedding and my mom does artificial trees. FH and I agreed to start the tradition in our home that we will cut down our own Christmas tree each year. I'm Italian and Christmas eve is our big thing so I will carry on that tradition.

Our tradition used to be that we would celebrate together on Christmas Eve day because we both had off. We'd cook breakfast together, have eggnog, watch Christmas movies and exchange gifts. We had to switch that when he got his new job. Chrismtas day is crazy so we try to do it Christmas night when we get back from all of our family parties. It gives us something to look forward to.

When we move into our own place, we'll celebrate Christmas morning and then celebrate with our families the weekend after Christmas since we have so much going on already. It will be nice to just hang out with our family and actually enjoy spending time with them.

Traditions wise, we always put up the trees (I have 2) at my house the weekend after Thanksgiving. We plan to do that in our place as well.
