Do you live with FH? Why or why not? For now, do you prefer your arrangement or do you wish it was different? What went into the decision?
For me, FH and I really wanted to move in together this summer when my roommate left... but with me still in school, we figured if he stayed at home where he's been, we'd be able to save more moeny for the wedding. We were worried that by moving in together, getting married would take a financial back burner. It ***** though because it's really hard to make time during the week to see each other between his job, my job and classes because we have to tack in 1 hour travel time both ways. So when I'm there on a school night, having class at 8am the next day, the last thing I wanna do at midnight is drive home Originally, I didn't want to move in at ALL before we got married, and I still kinda feel that way because I feel like things wouldn't be that different then after we take such a huge step. It should be different! But it's so annoying to have to PLAN to see him. Anyway....

I lived on my own for 4 years and it was what really helped get our relationship up and running. This past May I moved back home with my parents. It was a tough decision but my landlord was selling their house and I knew it was the best.
It would help me save up a lot of cash and get out of debt. The deal was this summer we would move in together - giving me a year to get settled but then he popped the question LOL so now, we are going to live seperately until we are married.
We live a good 45 min away - and with his job and mine we never see each other during the week, so we are left with weekends. It s*u*c*k*s- b/c he cant stay over my house (but i can stay at his when its needed) but we make it work. It's been an adjustment since my prior living arrangements - but we have the rest of our lives togehter so another year and a half is really nothing.

Re: ~~**QOTD 12/3/09**~~
FH and I have currently been living together for a little over a year now and I am very happy with the way things are. Prior to us moving into our apartment, I had to always drive from the Bronx to Queens to see him and at $10 a day in bridge tolls that can add up. Eventually I wound up driving in on a Wednesday or Thursday, and staying at his place until Sunday and then I would go home but it was always annoying to go back home. So we finally decided that we should give actualyl living together a try because we both agree that we want to see how we living together goes before making any decisions about getting married. Obviously it worked out well because 6 months later he popped the question
At first the $$ siuation was tight because we had to endure the cost of moving (buying new furniture, dealing with adding rent into our normal budgets, having to get used to paying all these extra bills)... but things settled down a bit until of course now we have to save for the wedding!

Fh and I have been living together for 2 years now. We moved in together when his parents moved to Georgia. It made alot of sense at the time and I am happy with the decision. I always thought I didnt want to live with someone until I got married but I definitley changed my mind and I think it helped our relationship alot and has even helped prepare for marriage. We havbe learned alot about eachother!

We live together. For us, this decision was pretty easy. Last year, he decided to move to Philly to go to school and while we were in college, we always talked about it and I knew that I'd go with him wherever he decided to go to school. A 4-year long distance relationship was long enough. We couldn't do that again. I love living with him. It makes us feel closer and more 'adult'. I think it was a really great step in our relationship. Since we've been together since we were so young, sometimes we still feel like kids, but moving in together definitely took our relationship to a higher level.

We do not live together. I still live here and FH still lives with the FIL in CT. So right now we are a commuter couple only seeing each other on the weekends. It stinks but Ive been doing it this long another year of this wont kill us. I think it makes our relationship better because when we finally do get married we will just value our time more. We arent going to look to move out until next fall so that way we will already have a place after the wedding. Our main reason for not living together really is to save as much as we can for the wedding since we are paying for most of it ourselves.

FH and I don't live together. The most important reason we don't is because we both want to wait until we're married to live together. I think that it is really going to add to the excitement of getting married if we wait. Another reason is financially we can't afford it. I still live with my parents and we are trying really hard to save up as much as we can for the wedding so living together would def take away from the amount we would be able to save. At times I really do wish that we lived together. We both work full time and are both in grad school so we really only get to see each other over the weekend. It's difficult and we wish we were able to see each other everyday. But the fact that we don't live together makes me that much more excited to get married!

FH and I do live together here at med school down in Mexico. Of course its great always having him around and i'm really glad we are doing this before we get married b/c we have had to learn how to deal with a lot of things together, and sometimes not always that easy. We share an apt. here at school so on holidays he goes home to PR and I to NY. I can't wait till we are in a more permanent place near one of the two families. We basically decided to live together at the beginning of dating since we were always together and studying together that it just made sense not to pay for two separate apartments. Can't wait until we are back in the states though! we may have to move back in with the parents however while we get on our feet!

I do live with my FH, sometimes he makes me want to not live there lol.
Funny story how i moved in. I got kicked out by my sister who didnt live there. It was x-mas last year and every year my sisters from chicago and atlanta come up for a visit. So I was nice and packed up half of my stuff so there would be dresser space and closet room for one of them to use. Of course lucky me..I get the neat freak sister and her son, So I decided for that week I was staying with the FH. A couple of days later my I get a call at work from my youngest sister saying that the neat freak packed up ALL of my stuff and has it stacked in the hallway. I get home and theres all my stuff shoved in giant black bags in the hallway! So I start flipping out crying hysterically screaming who gave her the right to pack up my stuff and shove it like that. ETc....So after an hour of us screaming and my mom wanting nothing to do with it (she was stressed as it was) I called up my FH at his job screaming like a lunatic and crying so he came, picked me up and I never went back.
I really wouldve liked to wait a little longer before moving in, but I do enjoy living with him sometimes. We're just always broke and saving money is insanely hard AND I gained about 400 lbs because he eats like a cow and brain ninja's me into eating large amounts of unhealthy food. But its a good experiance

FH and I do live together. We actually grew up together and he lived around the block from my parent's house. I used to see him all the time anyway.
We were planning on getting an apartment this year, and we were lucky enough to have one offered to us through a family member that was a) bigger and nicer than we could have afforded and b) cheaper than we were planning on spending for less! We couldn't turn it down.
It's been rough adjusting monetarily, but we are really enjoying living together. I think it was better for us that we figured out how to live together prior to being married. No unhappy surprises. I know to expect his work pants on the floor when I get home, and he knows that Wed. at 10pm I'm watching Top Chef!

I dont live with FH, he asked me to move in a long time ago but my parents were/are paying for my college and i wouldnt ask them to pay for it while im not living under their roof. We will be getting a house together around this time next year, when FH gets out of the military and changes/ has to move out of his housing. He also currently lives in jersey otherwise i would move in with him right after i graduate but, ill be getting a job in NY and hell be moving to NY next year so theres really no point in me moving there just to move back. ....I went away to college for 2 years but transferred schools when FH got transferred @ his job to be closer to him, so moving back home was difficult but were saving more money this way and in the end its really not that long till we move intogether, but i do wish we lived together!

I USED to live with FH. When we went away to school together we had an apartment.
I loved it.
We had the option of staying upstate in our apartment or coming home to NY and living separately. Since we're paying for the wedding our self and it's going to be on LI we decided to both go back to living with our parents to save money for a wedding and a house.

well me and FH i guess you can say live together. Well during the 2 months of rain this summer his apt. flooded out and him and his bro had to move out till they got it fixed. It took about almost 3 months to get the carpet n everything. So he came to my house w my parents. at the time my brother lived w his fiance but then they broke up and he moved back home so now he's in my small room sleeping on the floor bc i move around too much to fit 2 ppl in my twin bed lol but when I asked if he's going to go back to his apt where all his things still are he just says I wont go unles u come w me!! I love it and would love to move in w him but his bro says no girls aloud in the apt to live... one day we will have our own place!!

FH and I moved in together after a year of dating, and got engaged after a year of living together!! I always said I didnt want to move in with someone until I got engaged ( because of a past bad experience) and FH said he didnt want to get engaged till he lived with someone... ...hes the kind of person who wears his pants before he takes the tags off and commits to them( im not joking about this!!), so I understood why he felt this way.. he always wants to be like 1000% sure before he makes a decision... but its worked out great! I always knew we would get engaged so I didnt worry about him not buyin the cow if hes getting the milk for free if you know what I mean

FH & I have been together for 9 years and I moved in with him last October, a few months before we got engaged. It was tiring driving back and forth from my house to house everyday, even though we were only 20 mins apart. I knew we were getting engaged soon enough so I'm definately glad I made the move! We live in the basement apt. of his parents house, we pay minimal overhead which didn't change when I moved in so we can still save for a house.

FH and I have been living together for about two and a half years. We rent from a close friend of his. It's been a really great experience. We both have an approximate ten minute commute to work, and our rent isn't too high. We wanted to buy a house before we got married; however, we need to save to pay for the wedding. We figured we would start looking to purchase a house about six months to a year after the wedding.
