Moving on...... since FH & I are fattys a love food we're kinda obsessed about our menu. We're really torn on whether we're gonna ask NRC to make anything special for Cocktail Hour over and above the items on the actual menu. Are any of you girl having custom menu items added due to family tradition or personal obsession??
Also.... have you picked your cake flavors yet? If so what did u decide?

Yes, we're adding the seafood boat, caviar luge station and viennese hour. I'm ukranian and my family loves seafood and caviar so we definitely needed to add that.
We haven't picked our cake yet but I would love an ice cream cake. That's not going to happen but I would love it.

We're going to have chotpoti added to the CH, which is basically like a build-your-own-chickpea-salad, a traditional Bengali appetizer. There are chickpeas (obviously), onions, scallions, cilantro, chopped egg, tomatos, etc. in separate bowls, and you mix them on your plate as you would like them. Then there's different sauces, some tangy, some hot, some yogurt, tha tyou drizzle on top. It's soooo good.
We'd also like them to have pakoras, which is basically breaded and fried vegetables. Also served with dipping sauces. Also a traditional Bengali appetizer, and it'll represent FH's culture.
And one thing I'm going to ask them about is....macaroni and cheese. Somehow incorporating that. I guess that represents me?
People are going to need a Tums after our CH!

We don't have anything 'special ordered' per say. But we do have the VH, and I'm going to see if I can get any other CH stations thrown in.
We haven't done our cake yet.

i reaallllly want a mashed potato bar!!! NRC and CB had them as offerings, and i LOVE THAT
sandcastle doesnt normally do it....but i asked...i hope they get back to me with a YESSSS
and if i had my choice - i would also have sweet potato as a choice. OMG....drooool!!!!!!!!
as for cake...we dont know yet...but we have different tastes, so the layers might need to be different...

We havent added anything special to our food, we did get the chocolate fountain, and champagne cart. I would like to add an extra carving station to ch. but we'll see.
We havent chosen a cake yet but Id love to go do that real soon!

We didn't add anything special to the menu. The venue offers so much variety to choose from so we mixed it up.
We chose Yellow Cake with Vanilla frosting and chocolate and Rasberry filling.

We are going to add the viennse or at least some stations from it to make a mini one. We want the zeppolis. We have the chocolate fountain already. Ice cream station, flaming station, candy, etc
Cocktail hour I would like to add some more seafood, but I don't know.
Cake not sure. Red velvet maybe.

The 'special' thing we added was the raw bar and upgraded seafood - my family along with FH LOVE raw clams, mussels, lobster, etc. That was something we knew we were adding regardless of the price. Also, we added the Vieneese and to it, we are adding a candy bar!

we decided instead of having a sit-down dinner with some meat dish that neither of us would ever order, we're going to have three different stations of different kinds of food...one mediterranian, one italian, and one vietnamese/thai. we were hoping to also have an indian station (or replace the indian station w/ one of those b/c it's my favorite), but they said they'd have to hire a separate chef. cake is going to be stracciatella with cheesecake and vanilla icing.

Yes, we are incorporating some Portugese dishes. FH is Portugese :)

FH and I are obsessed with bacon wrapped scallops so they are giving them to us... Shaun doesnt want to order an entree, he wants to eat bacon wrapped scallops as his dinner
i havent picked my cake at all so i have no idea about flavors yet....

We aren't ordering anything extra special but are excited to pick out our stations and passed hors d'oeuvres! I am assuming I won't be eating much food at the wedding so looking forward to the tasting .

we added shrimp coctail, clams and oysters to the CH... and a chocolate fountain. I really want to add the baby lamb chops, but it is just too much $$$... i am hoping since i recommended a friend have their wedding their and they booked, maybe they will give me a little something else extra

We arent really adding anything custom to our menu....
We actually have four different flavors for our cake - our cake is the only course that will be buffet style so people can pick their own flavor. They are: 1. Red Velvet w/ creamcheese filling, 2. German chocolate cake w/ a chocolate ganachefilling (I am calling it the chocolate death layer), 3. White cake with fresh berries in chantilly cream and 4. white cake with a mango mousse filling....can't wait!
