Thank you so much Amanda for picking me to be the new BOTW.
As I am watching Four Weddings one of the brides wrote their own vows. Are you and your FH planning on doing anything special or different at the ceremony and/or reception.
I am trying to convince the FH to write our own vows but he thinks its cheesy. Maybe if I get him to watch enough Four Weddings he will want to. Ha ha! As or the reception we are going o be two different folk dances. We are both big into are German dance groups and it is tradition to do a certain dance when a member of the club gets married. Both of our clubs do a different dance so we will be doing both. Also there will be a small little presentation that his club does to the newlyweds. The last couple from the club who it married hands over a cow bell that the man needs to wear at any dance function at the wife finder. This part I am not looking forward too..
Happy Sunday!!

We will not be writing our own vows. We plan on having a pretty traditional ceremony and it's just one less thing I have to worry about now :)

There are German dancers on 4 weddings right now on LI! That cow bell thing is too funny haha We are having a traditional ceremony. I'm not creative enough to write my own vows! But we would like to add some special touches to the reception. I'd like to have a Polish blessing. Still deciding on some other things that we'd like to include :)

I know I saw. I know those people personally. They are a good party bunch but some of the things they do make a mocker of what we actually do.
Like the idea of a polish blessing.

love this question bc im very excited about what we r doing! this febfh mom died a few years ago and our friend died 2 years ago ( one of my very best guy friends, he was gay and would have totally worn a dress to b in my wedding lol) then my grandma died 10 days after we got engaged....3 very important people we miss every day and wish they could be there physically. for our unity ceremony we r doing colored water...so my family water will be yellow and his family color will be blue so when we mix them it will make green then at the point when the priest asks for us to name or honor those we have lost...we r going to have 3 family members bring us up white carnations and we r going to put them in the vase with the colored water this way we can display that in our home and over time the carnations will absorb the green water and turn green.

FH wants to stick with traditional vows. I originally wanted to do our own but think I will get nervous & mess it up. I guess its one less thing to think about!

FH wants traditional vows but I'm 99% sure it's pure laziness rather than the want for a traditional religious ceremony.
