QOTD 1/28/08....

Happy Monday everyone! I know Mondays S U C K but hey its life.


Has there been anyone in your lfie who has been so annoying while wedding planning, or has there been someone who you wish would be more involved?

FH's mother

She just isn't involved at all ..and I don't think she grasps the idea that we are actually getting married and having a nice reception...it just goes over her head somehow..and if she asks us to buy her one more thing I might just scream

Well, this is a great question and I was just about to post a rant but I figured since this is about annoyance- I'll start here!

I love my Mother dearly but she is a bit of a snob. I went to David's Bridal yesterday without her b/c she is out of town. Found 2 dresses I LOVED and had all the women in the place telling me how beautiful I looked. I took pics and emailed them to Mom and she HATES them. This is bugging the crap out of me. I want her to love my dress but it should be about me. First off, she said 'Why did you go to David's Bridal??????' Second off, she thinks anything under two grand is unacceptable. So, I am in a situation where I want to make everyone happy and I can tell that she is going to drive me mad. So now she is coming home this weekend. We are going to some bridal place in Manhasset and Bridal Reflections. I am dreading this because she is going to be a PAIN in the A$$! Is anyone dealing with this as well?

In all honesty.... My mother... shes involved but only to a point. FH and i have bought almost everything wedding related but because I do not have an actual engagement ring, she will not be in it 100%. My mom and I are best friends so to me, its hurtful. Ive spoken to her about it too and she said it just doesnt seem real until I have the ring...

however, buying cabinets, flooring, a bed, wedding favors, engagement party cards, and favors.... thats fake?

aww that sounds tough. i thought i had it bad because i'm dealing with the *OPPOSITE*. My mother expects to have a dream wedding at 5 bucks per person LOL if I pay over 200 bucks on my dress she'll probably say I threw money down the drain. Every time we say we want to include something else in the wedding she thinks it's dumb to spend even a penny more than what's included. I can't stand that but I don't think I'd like the other extreme any better!

OMG, my mom said the same thing!! I got my dress from davids because I simply just FELL IN LOVE with it!!!! And she said she doesnt consider it a wedding dress because it was so inexpensive...

Reminds me of prom... when I wanted this dress but they didnt have it in my size, but they had it on sale in macys. But because it was from macys, she said no and had them EXPRESS ORDER it for another 600 bucks!!!!!

Wow I am sorry! I am bargain shopper so when I look for a dress I will compare a dress with many places to get the best price. Davids Bridal has beautiful gowns and yes they are inexpensive but that does not mean they are not beautiful. As long as you love the dress and know its the one for you then thats all that matters.

no one is too involved, in which im happy with My mother only says to not make her look bad.

FMIL was a royal PIA with our EParty, but as of right now she's been rather pleasant with the whole wedding planning. Basically she's not involved and that's just how I like it.

I'm 37 years old...everyone knows better than to try and tell me what to do.

MINE TOO!! i get the feeling they feel a bit 'hassled' at times. i guess it's hard to get more into something like this when it's not your own thing.
