~~~QOTD 1/28/2014~~~
Good morning Brides :)
Something that I always find funny is that before me and my FH got engaged we always talked about what we pictured our wedding to be. We always said that we wanted a beach theme, with green and turquoise sometime in the fall. We wanted it to be a long engagement,small and inexpensive! Since we've gotten engaged, we picked June, 10 months away from when we got engaged,our colors are different purples and greens to fit a romantic Shakespearean theme and it turned out to be way more than we ever thought!
So I'm wondering if this happens to a lot of couples. Did you ladies stick to your plan?
I kind of stuck to my plan- I wanted purple and gray and that stuck. But I wanted a September wedding and wanted more of a fall theme, but because I'm a teacher I decided on May so that we can honeymoon in the summertime and relax in the first few months following the wedding :) So now we are going for more of a Springtime theme. We also planned on a big wedding hall like floral terrace or a place like that, but ended up picking the milleridge cottage instead.. Then I bought a lace dress, so now we are going for more of an understated vintage lace type of a theme.
That answer would depend on who you ask - me, or FH. We started talking about what our wedding would be like a couple years back, but we certainly had differing ideas of what 'perfect' means. FH always pictured a summertime wedding, either on the beach or around water/boats - somewhat laid back. I, on the other hand, have dreamed of a wintertime, evening, formal affair - red in the color scheme, everyone in black tie. light snow falling, yada yada.
Things just fell into place so that it made more sense to do things in February - so I kinda got my way, with FHs approval.
FH and I met on Valentines Day - and prices are much friendlier in the winter. Not to mention, FH liked the idea of a warm weather honeymoon when its so frigid over her in NY. So a Fox Hollow evening wedding on 2/22 it is. Winter white/silver colors with deep red accents. Black tie optional. I 'win.'
FH and I are both beach people and love the warm weather. So our plan was to have a outdoor, beachy, summertime wedding. We are getting married in early August at our venue, with the ceremony overlooking the Great South Bay. I think we definitely stayed on plan.
I never really had a plan. I had an idea of specific things on my wedding day. But, after my dad died, neither me nor FH have really brought it up again. Even after we got engaged. We both love the venue, but he's just kind of along for the ride, lol. It's not that he doesn't CARE, he's more like, whatever you want. He just wants to show up. lol.
We had originally wanted a destination wedding or a Long Island wedding in the fall but we ended up doing winter bc we paid for everything ourselves. I'm so happy we went with winter bc everything was perfect, and FH is thanking me for convincing him to do a LI wedding since he was originally so against it men should just always assume their woman is right!
Michael never had a plan as far as what he invisioned. He just wants to have fun & party. I always wanted a nautical inspired wedding. I had to totally change my vision when I realized that in order to execute my full dream we were looking at $75k wedding and I just knew that was ridiculous so needless to say my vision has changed but I am still having the wedding of my dreams!
We have stuck pretty much to our plan, only things that got changed were due to financial reasons. We originally wanted to get married this past fall 2013 but finding out how much everything cost we pushed it back a year. We wanted a one wedding at a time venue with really pretty scenery but all of them were outside our budget so we went with JT cause it was in our budget and we want the people on the dance floor now roaming around. We have stuck to our colors and our theme ever since we got engaged.
Although FH and I talked about getting married before we got engaged, we never actually talked about anything specific. We just wanted our wedding to be awesome - so we're sticking to that plan :)
I definitely did not stick to my plan....I wanted to elope! Haha, FH said absolutely not! I don't regret making a big party but sometimes, in the most stressful moments, I do fantasize about eloping.
We never really talked about what kind of wedding we would have but we did always talk about being married. I guess in the back of our minds, we took for granted we would get married the way everyone else we knew did: the ceremony in a church and a reception in a big venue.
Same - i was okay with no wedding but it meant a lot to FH to do the church/RH family thing. So here we are. I dream about eloping all the time. haha
Good question! We did and didn't. I was never one of those girls that grew up dreaming of the perfect wedding - I was always pretty easy to please in terms of relationships. I actually never even really thought about getting married until I met FH. When we started talking about it he had asked me what I wanted in terms of a wedding - I said a long engagement and not to get married until I finished school. We had almost a 2 year engagement and I finished school in May so that worked out!
My favorite color is cobalt blue so I knew I wanted that for the BM dresses and my dress is exactly what I picutred myself buying. So overall, we stayed pretty much on point!
we stuck to our theme, but not our wedding date. we initially wanted to get married in the fall, preferably october. however, prices in october are high ('october is the new june'), and we fell in love with TVI ... so when they said they had LDW available, we jumped on it!
Our wedding is exactly what we talked about prior to getting engaged. All in all a simple ceremony and a big party after! Our colors are our favorite colors and a summer date that we always wanted.
