We are currently going through pictures for our slideshow and my FMIL is on the search for a picture of us from when I first met his whole family at his sisters graduation. We were talking about how funny it was because she never thought that we'd be where we are today when she had those pictures developed and threw them into some box. So after thinking about it, I definitely didn't think so either! I really wasn't until our second year of really being together that I knew he was the one. So my question is, is there a point that you can remember saying that this is it? Or at what point in your relationship were you ready????

FH and I had been dating for a little over a year when we decided to move in together. We decided to start our lives together in a new city. So when we moved to DC together 4 years ago (time flies!) I knew he was the one. I would never do that for someone I was unsure of.

I know this sounds cheesy and cliche, but I knew when I met him. It was just a feeling I got, there was something different when I met him. We were 20 and 21 and had a lot of growing up to do, but I knew he was the one. I knew EVENTUALLY it would end up here.

I knew I was going to marry FH 15 years ago when we started dating the first time around. Many years later and even after a 6 year break up, I still knew we were going to get married one day, it was something I felt in my soul and I never gave up on that feeling and in 44 days I will be his wife!!

I knew right off the bat that he was special, but since he lived in CT and I lived in NY, I never believed that it would work out. I figured it would be like other distant relationships I had where I was always the one going the extra mile (literally). He proved me wrong and very quickly.... I remember the day he showed up at my house on a Tuesday afternoon. He drove 2 hours just to have dinner with me, then headed back home. That is the night that I knew. :)

Yeah I guess I'm kind of with you girls. I always knew that something was different with him. I just never thought that he could ever give up his party boy lifestyle and be a husband. I guess you never give up on love :)

I knew it about 3 years into our relationship. We started dating in HS, so the first three years were more about us growing up together, and not so much finding our life partner.. When I was around 19/20, my grandfather passed away and my FH was there every second. He helped my parents with the preparations, was there for me, and was there for my sisters and cousin. He was also extremely helpful when my brother was going through a rough time in his life. My FH was the only person my brother would speak to. Realizing how much my family, and not only me, depended on my FH, and how much my FH was willing to be there for ALL of us, meant alot.. it showed that he wanted.. I think every italian here knows that you must marry the girl, you marry the family lol.. so this was a very important quality to have!

Re: ~~~QOTD 1/29/14~~~
For the first year that we dated, I was in Brooklyn and FH was in Long Island. Under most circumstances, this would have been too soon to start co-habitating, but his roomate fell ill with lymphoma and was receiving a bone-marrow transplant, which meant that all his roomates had to move out so he could have a more sterile environment while his immunity was so compromised. FH and I discussed it and decided he would move in with me in Bay Ridge. I figured, hey, if we get closer - and don't want to kill each other - then great! If it doesn't work out and we drive each other up a wall, well the lease is still in my name and better to find out now rather then later, right?
Turned out great and we fell even more in love. I also found out the hard way that his traditional Italian-American upbringing (ie, his mom) left him lacking any knowledge of, oh, how to use a vacuum, how to run a washer machine, etc. THIS italian-american woman had to do some serious educating and he's doing much better. We started talking about marriage/weddings about a year after he moved in.

I don't think I necessarily thought he was 'the one' right away, but I did know that he was something special the night I met him. If I had to pick a time of when I thought he was 'the one' I would say about 2 months into our relationship.

Haha how funny ... Because I have a picture of myself with his family at his cousins wedding in the summer of 2008. We weren't dating officially then but he did take me as his date. A few people asked if I was his girlfriend and he said 'not yet' haha and I got mad at him! (silly me...)
That was July. This whole 'should we or shouldn't we' (on my part at least) started when we met that February. We didn't start officially dating until the following February in 2009. I do remember one incident, still remember the day August 24, 2008, I said to myself, holy crap I love this guy. But it still took awhile to get to that point of head over heels in love. I was young, only 22, I didn't know what I wanted. It was a slow process to realize 'hey! Your best friend is the one!' I would say 6 months into officially dating I realized we would be together forever.

It really sounds so cheesy but I'd have to say pretty much right away. Within the first few months I knew I wanted to spend forever with him.

I too was always the one traveling to the other person in ther relationships. Fh was the one willing to just come over for an hour than travel and hour back to his home - which I thought was wonderful! Alalso there were many indications we moved in pretty early in the relationship and once it worked inknew

Hahahah my FH is that traditional Italian-American....I can't wait until the day he has to face the washing machine, LOL. Though oddly enough he's better at cleaning in general than I am.

I asked FH this question and he said he always loved me but it took him longer to realize he couldn't live without me.

I knew after our first year when we moved in together and saw each other everyday and thought..ok I love waking up together everyday and the more time past the closer we got, and I knew I can't imagine a day without him
Aww cute question! I knew FH back in college through the boy i was dating at the time. FH and I were friends in that we were in the same party crowd and hung out often. Flash forward 4 years after college (and 4 years after dumping my college bf), FH chatted with me on facebook and we decided to hang out. I would say probably about 5 months into dating I knew he was the one. Sadly i think i realized it after a drunken b*tch fit i was throwing. He just saw through the nonsense and made it clear he wasnt going any where. It was the sort of thing like 'I'm in this for the long haul, im not here to play games, i want to be with you and if you want to be with me let's not do these stupid fights'. Once i saw him see through me being a drama queen, I knew he was a keeper and I could end all of the STUPID dating games I'd pulled on guys before. See sometimes being a total lunatic helps you get a little clarity

On our first date I told him that I wasn't going to rush into anything (sex) because I knew he was a long term thing. I'm just glad I didn't scare him away! But I was pretty certain from the get-go.
