QOTD 2-20-14

Over the last few weeks I have completely recommitted myself to the gym, but my diet is where I struggle. I have the worst sweet tooth! My question for today is how have been preparing physically for the big day? Did you jump on the diet and exercise bandwagon immediately after getting engaged, did you panic set in when it was time to go dress shopping? What, if anything, have you changed about your diet and exercise plan, and what tips have worked for you , that you can share with the rest of us?

FH has been very supportive of all my efforts, doing strength training with me and prodding me to the gym on the days I don't really want to go. I have re-started weight watchers on line and trying so hard to stick to it, but I feel hungry all the time!!!

I started going to the gym a few times a week. That's about it. I eat ok already, I'm a vegetarian so it works for me.

QOTD 2-20-14 - Long Island Weddings

My FH and I have been together for about 6.5 years, and I gained probably like 15-20 lbs when I was a freshman in college because I was getting comfortable in our relationship- it was about 1.5 years into the relationship at that point. I lost all of that weight and got very fit my sophomore year of college and have been pretty good with staying within 5 lbs of that weight since then.

When we got engaged, I probably gained another 5-10 lbs because we went out to dinner ALOT and it was right before the holidays. We were celebrating and drinking alot with friends for the first 2 months or so as well. Then, I went dress shopping in January and wasn't very happy with my figure in the dress, so from that point on I started getting back on track.

I have been really committed to doing spin 4x a week. I am kind of an inconsistent exerciser, but I am so happy that I have stuck with this! lol.. I am going monday, wednesday, thursday and saturday mornings and have missed only one class in 3 months :) And I've probably lost about 15 lbs since our engagement and I'm now the lowest weight I've ever been !

Re: QOTD 2-20-14

I'm actually a clinical dietitian - and I have to 'look the part,' so I always try to follow the 80/20 rule (80% eating like an angel, 20% messing that up). For about the past 2-3 months, I put more dietary restrictions on myself. Alcohol only 1 day out of the week and NO alcohol after superbowl. No starch or starchy veg after lunch. I have a severe sweet tooth, so I still allow myself a few hard candies a day while I enter in my nutritional assessments at work. I have also been a committed crossfitter for the past 2 years. I can usually only get there 3x/week but these past 4-5 months I've tried to get there 4x/week. It doesn't always happen, but I achieve that 4x/week schedule about half the time. Actually, its killing me (guilt-wise), but I promised myself my last workout would be this past Monday 2/17. Xfit workouts can result in many bumps, bruises and all and I just don't want to take a chance on a bruised collarbone or something this coming Saturday. Just doing push ups, sit ups, and squats in my living room.
I'm 5'3' and usually about 120lbs. I wanted to be about 110-112 on the big day, but I feel pretty ready right now, at ~115lbs. Just gotta make sure these last 48 hours are filled with natural diuretics (like asparagus and celery), lean proteins, and non-bloaty veggies

QOTD 2-20-14 - Long Island Weddings

Since dating my FH, i actually gained about 25-30 lbs (40 lbs from my healthiest weight!). So I had tried to get crazy with gym going right after we got engaged in January '13. That didn't work. I waited till late Oct '13 to get my dress and although it was a fun day, I had an overwhelming feeling of sadness because i was the heaviest i've ever been. I was determined not to look this way on my wedding day so I told kleinfeld I'd lose 30 lbs.

A few days after ordering my dress, an angel (and fellow LI Weddings bride!!) introduced me to nutrional cleansing! Since beginning this amazing program I've lost 23 lbs and countless inches off my body!! I kicked my caffeine habit too! I'm amped to step up my game and lose another 20 before my wedding. I am so happy I finally did something about being so unhealthy! Feeling like I'm gonna be the happiest, most energetic bride ever :)

Edited to add my before and after (it's in my album!)

I would love to hear more about this nutritional cleansing! I am always looking for some added assistance with dieting, although not so sure I want to give up my caffeine! How long did it take for you to lose the 23 pounds?

I'm happy to give you more info if you're interested! The 23 lbs came off in 3.5 months (mind you, I had thanksgiving, Italian Christmas eve, Christmas, new years, and a engage-aversary getaway during these months). I have energy through the roof without coffee or soda. Never thought I could feel this awesome!!

Caity! You are SO sweet!!! I am NO angel lol But this program has been something that I truly feel blessed to have found! I started this Nutritional Cleansing program last January and in my first 2 months I dropped 24 pounds. I continued to lose another 12 pounds for a total of 36lbs. I dropped my caffeine habit and feel more energetic without it! I've also been able to step up my workouts at the gym thanks to my new found energy and last year I was able to run 3 5K races, with my time shortened on each one!! This year I am running a 10K and I started doing Crossfit, which has been amazing so far! Looking to build some more muscle and really step it up a notch with my training. Feels so good!!! I simply can't wait to get my dress back on :)

FH and I joined the gym together. He decided he needed to lose weight before the wedding, so we decided joining together would be more motivating. I go a few times a week now, depending on the week. He's def more dedicated then I am. I have a lot of gi issues, so my diet can't really be altered. I wish I could change it though.

I'm the opposite, I bought my dress a size big in hopes to gain weight! So, I actually had to stop exercising and eating more, which is actually very hard for me.
