**QOTD 2/27/09**

all this talk about weddings ....... but how did it all begin??


How did FH pop the question!!??!!??!!??

fh asked me to be his wife in the comfort of our own home. i came home from work on a friday and we were heading to AC that night. as i walked up the stairs i saw roses lining the hallway floor and i just knew!!

i started crying and got all nervous and when i walked into our bedroom there were roses on the bed that spelt out 'forever baby?'

it was so romantic!!

Fh asked me on the top of the empire state building. he got down on one knee told me when he's with me he feel's like he is on top of the world, and the empire state building is the highest place we can be right now, so will you marry me' ...and i said NO

haha j/k i said helll yes!


i actually knew it was going to happen b/c the ring went off in the metal detector downstairs...he tried to get through with it a bunch of times and the guy thought FH had a gun of some sort, till finally FH threw it down on the convayer belt and yelled at the guy thanks for ruining it!

i burst into tears there... it was the MOST akward elevator ride eeeever!

Mine isn't super romantic, but it's us. I always ruin FH's surprises...for bdays, everything. He always makes the fatal error 3 weeks before where he'll mention something out of the blue, and I'm just too smart for that LOL.

So I had it figured out a long time ago that he was going to propose at our special bench in Avalon Park at the Stony Brook Duck Pond....like 3 years ago haha. It was just a matter of when. I knew it was coming finally though, because I knew he asked my father earlier in the week. So on the Sunday, he asked if I wanted to go 'take pictures' at Avalon, so I knew it was going to happen. He says now, so you knew it was going to happen, and you still wore a t-shirt?

What I didn't know was that we were going to run into his unsuspecting co-worker on the way in, who proceeded to explain in great, graphic detail how her kitten had just died after lapping up antifreeze that was leaking from her car onto the driveway. This was obviously before anything had happened with me, but I'm still a cat lover, so FH was inwardly flipping out that I was going to start crying and that everything would be ruined. Luckily, I maintained my composure, and finally we got away, and went to our bench.

It had been replaced! All our markings were gone...so FH told me to take out my knife and get to it, so I'm fiddling with my knife like a good Swiss, and he goes into his camera case, and pulls out the box, like freaking curtsies and just simply hands me the ring 'will you marry me baby?'

I don't even know if I said yes, I just kind of grabbed it from him and stared at it 'It's so pretty....it's so pretty...' Left him hanging there a bit haha.

Eventually I did come to my senses, said yes, and he has some trouble getting back up. We both kinda regret the proposal though now looking back...he doesn't feel that I was excited or really cared, because I had a lackluster response and didn't dress up for it. But I mean...I knew it was coming, and it didn't change the way we feel about each other, you know? I didn't really need a ring for that. So yes, in this relationship...sometimes he is the more sensitive, female role haha. God that was long.

It was a Friday after work fh was supposed to pick me up from LIRR train station , my cell died that night so I borrowed a strangers phone (i was so mortified) to tell FH what time the train would be in at little neck. i felt so awkward using the strangers phone that i told him the wrong time, 50 minutes later than i was coming in... fh being so nervous did not even pick up on the fact that my usual 30 min train ride turned into 1 hr and a half. lol .. anyway i get to little neck and call him on a pay phone and he says he will leave in like 10 minutes, so i start screaming, 10 minutes , what do u mean .. he rushes off the phone and says i am coming now .... 20 minutes later i am still standing there at this point thinking the worst/wierdest things are going through my mind, he got into a car accident, he is playing a joke on me , ... then light bulb goes off ... duh.. poor guy is probably taking a dump. so he finally shows up and of course i am nagging and he confirms that he was going #2 lol.....
we had plans to go out to dinner that night so fh suggests that we go straight to to the restaurant.. I say hell no , 'I am dirty and ugly and want to go home and shower plus i dont want to go to dinner at 6pm , what the hell are we 85 years old?.. then i continue to bi&ch that the reason he wants to go to dinner early is because he wants to get home in time for the met game, so i start busting his balls about how much he ***** , blah blah ...... the whole time he is cracking up and saying yeah you know me so well... so i demand to go home first and he says ok .... meanwhile we are laughing so hard bc i am fake yelling at him and he is just saying ok your right , yes i suck blah blah... then he opens the front door i walk in behind him and i see a huge sign hanging from our ceiling that says will you marry me ...he is on his knee and smiling and saying will you stop yelling at me and marry me ? at this point i go into shock and just start screaming and kissing him and laughing... after about 20 seconds of that we look at eachother and say who do we call first ? hahah

we were so excited that we ended up being on the phone for the next hour with loved ones , walking all over the apt and outside... i was mostly calling people from the toilet bowl bc like i said in the past all nerves good/bad go right to my tummy soooo i was on the bowl hahaha... it was an awesome night!!!!!

Awww... That is so sweet! Even with the jerk security guard ruining the surprise!!

On August 22nd, after a long day of work, I was at home getting ready for my sister Andrea to come visit. Patrick told me he was coming home right after work. So around 5:45 I was wondering where he was. He came home shortly after that, I met him at the door as I do most days, and was pouting at him and told him that he took forever to get home. He had his laundry in his hand and a FedEx box. When he walked into the bedroom, I followed, being wonderfully dramatic about him taking so long to get home and telling him all I wanted was a hug! He handed me the FedEx box (I found out later he made a comment about buying another computer part) and Patrick said I threw it away. So he reached in and handed me a white ring box. I opened it and saw that it was empty. I proceed to say 'Oh my god, oh my god.' Patrick reaches into his pocket and I see the bottom of the ring. He gets down on his knee and says, 'I have nothing fancy to say, but will you marry me?' Of course it got stuck on my knuckle!! I hugged him and said ye

awww i got engaged the day after you!!

FH and i were planning to go to dinner at this restaurant we love by the water so i was a little suspicious that maybe it might happen that night. On the way to pick me up FH calls me to tell me we gotta stop by this bakery to pick up a cake for his moms friend's daughters baby shower the next day ( i totally didn't think that was weird because the friend was staying with her from FL and didn't have a car and we are always doing errand for FMIL!) so in my mind im like great we are doing an errand for fmil at 6 oclock at night on the day FH might propose!!! we went into the bakery picked up the cake he handed me the box to carry he was carrying a bag of specialty breads... we walked out of the bakery and FH says oh wait we gotta check and make sure they spelled the babys name right and stuff before we leave. There just happen to be a bench right outside (completely planned!!) and i was peaking in the box not trying to mess it up and FH was like OPEN IT!!! i was trying to read the babys name and i kept thinking this isnt the right cake then i opened the box and it was a tiffany box cake that said Alison will you marry me? I looked up and he was holding the ring!!!
The greatest part of that weekend was that he pre arranged for that night to get together with some of our friends to celebrate and again the next night with all our friends!

he planned a party with all my friends and family..tricked me into thinking we were going to ihop..so i went to my sisters house to pick up my niece who i was going to bring with us..and when i opened the gate he was on one knee with about 30 people behind him and my nieces and nephew were holding a sign will u marry me....it was perfect
