Morning ladies - these questions sure are not that easy to come up with on the spot haha!
Are you (or plan to) do any twist on a tradition? Are there any traditions you borrowing from other cultures? Are you creating a new tradition?
I love the anniversary dance - but call me selfish I hate that the bride/groom are the first people to get off the dance floor. I figure that with all the money we spent on the wedding, I want to dance to every song possible! So I'm doing a little twist on this dance. It's going to start off with our MC saying that anyone married or in a relationship (yea I'm not going to single just he married folks either) for less than a day please come to the dance floor, which should just be the bride and the groom. And then just like the anniversary dance, I'm going to start with 1 year, 5 year, 10 year, etc.. but instead of asking them to step off the dance floor, they will be invited onto the dance floor. I figure at the end, the last couple the gets on the DJ can announce that all these couples have blessed the bride and the groom with many years of happiness. So it's kinda like the opposite of the anniversary dance. All just because I want to dance haha :)

I love the anniversary dance idea, I wanted to do that too! I was going to use my grandparent's song, but I decided not to do it at all & just play my grandparent's song as a dedication to our loved ones that can't be with us. I feel like it would be too emotional for my grandmother as a reminder that he's not physically here with us, and I'd probably get just as emotional.
I don't think we're starting any new traditions, or following any old. We're not throwing the bouquet or removing the garter, I don't think I'll even be able to fit a garter underneath my dress!

I think we are taking a lot of things and making them our own. Like we don't plan to do the traditional wedding songs down the isle. I don't think anniversary dance just any couples can come join us on the dance floor. We are doing the traditional garter and bouquet toss I kind of know who is definitely going to dive for my bouquet out of my friends lol.

The only real different things were doing, which aren't TOO different, are twists on two things. In the Jewish religion, both parents walk each the bride and groom down the aisle. Since FHs father cannot come to the wedding, I asked his sister to walk him down the aisle with his mom. We are also signing a ketubah (Jewish marriage license), and were getting one designed for us, so we can hang it in our home as a piece of art. Other than that, I love traditions and try not to stray too much from them.

I love your idea of the anniversary dance. I am actually not doing too many traditional things. I am not doing the garter or bouquet toss. We are up in the air about the cutting the cake, but we are thinking about having cupcakes instead of cake so might do it with that.

Lol ditto! Well I am keeping a lot of traditions, but there are so many Ideas I have that my poor FH is only slowly finding out about lol.
Instead of a Candle or Sand ceremony We planned to incorporate the thumbprint tree idea into our ceremony. We would ask everyone to add their print as they come into the ceremony which is non religious and at the Hall, and during the ceremony itself, me and FH add ours (in a contrasting color) to 'seal' our families into one family tree!

If FH would allow it, I would want to jump over a broom. He nixed that idea, but I did get a hand fasting incorporated so I was happy :)

We are pretty traditional so we aren't changing anything!! We will be getting rid of the anniversary dance thought just because too many people have lost loved ones and we don't want them to feel bad.

I've never been to a wedding with an anniversary dance and I've been to a lot of weddings. Is it that common?

We're doing everything the traditional way. But your idea sounds cute.

Well... our ceremony definitely won't be all that traditional... but we're just not sure of the details on that yet.
Other than that... the 'traditional' stuff will happen. -Garter/Bok toss, cake cutting etc.

It's a binding of hands with rope. It's suppose to symbolize unity and the bonds of marriage. It's the very end of our ceremony.

there is a faster version of our wedding song and we're going to dance to it later in the night just the two of us. it's salsa so it will look choreographed but we're both big dancers so it won't actually be. I guess that would be mine lol
