****So....we all love our significant other. But lets face it, we had a life before them. Meaning, you have friends, went out with them and/ or just need alone time. So...a group of friends want do to something you have wanted to do for a while but you made plans with your FH / FW, do you go, invite your partner, or tell your friends you can't go? Are you the type of person who kinda forgets they have friends once they are in a relationship?Hmmmmmm********
So, I am a very social person. I have a some great chickies in my life and we make it a point to meet for coffee, wine or whatever every other month in the least...I think its another relationship you need to maintain all your life. So I usually do meet up with my friends on a moments notice. FH is free to come most of the time...(when its not just ladies). But honestly....he is just great about it. He encourages me to go or he'll even drive me 15 miles and pick me up 3 hrs later just because. Gotta love that. HOWEVER, if we all wanted to do it, including my FH, then I would wait for him to do it with him or invite him along. The girls love him, so he's always welcome.

My friends are really important to me. We make it a point to try to hang out every Friday night and get dinner. If I have something special planned with FH, then I would try to reschedule with the girls but FH pretty much knows Friday is girls night.

If it was reallly something I wanted to do then FH would understand that I break plans with him. If it was girls only I know FH would encourage me to go. Its me thats the one that needs to get away more for girls nights. Ive been bad about it!

I would invite him he is usually down with whatever and he gets along great with my friends. I have a mixed group of friends (boys and girls) so it is never really just girls anyway

I dont have many friends to being with. If I do make plans with people its usually during the week. Since the weekends are my only time to see FH. If I do make plans for the weekends that I am home its something that my friends are bringing their husbands. There have been a few occassions when I did go out during the day to the movies or lunch with my friends and it was ok with him.

FH would tell me to just go with my friends and he'll do whatever-thats just the type of person he is. Before we moved in together, we only would see each other on the weekends, so during the week-we did whatever and had our lives going. Now that we are living together, we are still maintaining our lives together, but we understand that each other still needs to have their own time.

Re: ******QOTD****** 4/04/09
Most of our friends are all couples and we're all mutual friends. So it's very rare that FH and I wouldn't be together with our friends.
BUT, in the event of a girls night, FH is very encouraging for me to go. For instance the other night, two of my girlfriends and I went shopping and then for dinner after. I called FH after the shopping trip to see if he wanted to come meet us for dinner (since he hadn't eaten yet), but his response was 'No, make it a girls night.' If it's a matter of me breaking plans with FH, it depends on what it's for. If it was something we could reschedule, then sure. But if not, then I'd have to try to reschedule with the girls.

i usually ask if he wants to tag along.. unless we're going to see sex and the city or something.. then i know he'd rather stay home lol
we both have friends that don't live around here, so when they come by we both know we've got to rearrange our plans

fh always tells me to go out. he says he doesnt wan me to be 40 ,married to him, and regret i didnt go out lolol. i go out once in a while with friends; girls AND guys. he doesnt like the places i go cuz they are 'too crowded' amongst other things lol so he'll stay home or go out with his friends.
like last friday i went to glo happy hour with him and his dad..and my friend mike and his bro met me there. mikeonly met fh once for liek 5 min. but fh ended up wanting to leave (as expected cuz he hates staying out) so i stayed with my guy friends. he could care less lol
or if fh wants to go to a bar and i dont, ill tell him to go without me. usually he'll just not go, but there were times where he did go without me. its not really an issue in our relationship.
as far as breaking plans..sometimes i break them to go out he doesnt care lol

It depends what kinda of plans FH & I had, and what kinda plans the girls had..
if my plans with fh were to just sit around and watch a movie, and the girls wanted to do something exciting...i'd probably go with the girls..
if fh & I had major plans, i definitely wouldnt ditch him b/c there is nothing more that i hate than being ditched myself.
he has his boys nights out and i have my girls nights out.

FH works on ships for a living - meaning - he is out to sea for a month, then home for a month. So, when he is out to sea, I see my friends constantly. When he is home, I spend every minute of my free time with him. If there is something to do with my friends - he happily comes along. My friends and he all get along really well and my friends totally understand our situation.

I still have a great relationship with my friends....since FH lives in Ohio I have been able to maintain those relationships and they have really helped me in the past when I was feelin blue. I used to be the sort of girl who would forget her friends when in a relationship and I've been blessed with friends who have forgiven that. Thank goodness FH supports and encourages me having a full social life, so I think when he moves here this pattern will continue.
If I already have plans with him, I would tell my friends I can't make it and maybe some other time...

My girlies and I try to get together at least once a month but it is usually during the week. Since FH & I live together he doesn't mind.
If we had tickets to something or a party to attend I would try to switch plans with the girls. FH doesn't have a problem if we switch plans because we are gonna be together for the rest of our lives.
