Good Morning Ladies! Happy Thursday! It is a VERY happy Thursday for me because I am officially 1 YEAR AWAY from my wedding!!! I feel like we just got engaged and booked the date. When we first booked the date, it seemed so far away but it's getting closer and time is going so quick!

Today's question is about the ceremony. Are you including any special traditions within your ceremony? Cultural, religious or family traditions?

FH is Filipino so we will be including Filipino traditions into our church ceremony. The first one is a coin ceremony in which the groom presents the bride with 13 coins as a sign of being able to provide for his family. The next is a veil ceremony in which we will choose two of our family members to come up and pin a veil on us to signify the clothing of the two of us as one. After the veil, a cord in the shape of an infinity sign is placed over our heads onto our shoulders. The cord symbolizes everlasting fidelity. This is also done by two family members. We are not having a full mass so we decided to include these traditions instead.

I am jewish and my FH is Christian, we are both not religious so we are thinking of his godfather doing the wedding...I don't think we will do any religious traditions at all.

I am Jewish and FH is catholic we are trying to balance both religions without using a Rabbi or a priest. I met pastor April at the bridal showcase last week, I am hoping to use her :) I will set up an appointment after vacation (schools have off next week)

Congrats on the 1 year mark! It was so exciting when I hit mine :)

Congrats on the one year mark!!

As for traditions at the reception will be doing two German folk dances. In both of our clubs it is tradition to do a dance as a club uniting the couple as one. It is said that your dance partner is your mate for life. We are also talking about doing the German tradition where the groomsmen kidnap the bride and she is held for ransom. The groom has to search all over for his bride and eventually finds them and has to give them a bottle of booze as the payment.

Congrats on the one year mark! Mine is coming up soon and I am getting nervous!

We will have a traditional Catholic ceremony with full mass. So nothing out of the ordinary. We are going to ask our Godmothers to do the readings :) We may have a Polish blessing done when we get to the venue.
