Good Afternoon Ladies!!! It's WEDNESDAY!!! That means only 2 more days til Friday!! Friday can't come soon enough!
Anyhoo.... today's question is:
Is there or are there any married couples in your life (relatives, friends, acquaintances) whose marriage you and your FH would like to emulate? What is it about these people that makes their marriage so wonderful in your eyes? If you don't have any marriage 'role models' is there a couple that you know of whose marriage you definitely DON'T want to model yours after?
I dont really have a 'current' couple but I do hope to have the kind of relationship my greatgrandparents had....married for over 60 years when they passed. My gg wrote a book about their life and its a true tribute to their great life together. They were married on 2.20.1927 so we are honoring them by getting married on the same day in 2009....

My aunt and uncle - they have the most amazing relationship. They always have some much fun together - their house is filled with smiles and laughter. They know how to handle the not so good times and are always there for eachother and their families. Plus, they gave me the 2 most adorable cousins ever!!!

I would say our parents but I kinda think that even though we love our parents relationships and we are happy that they are both still happily married.... i have a different answer....
We were out at a really nice restaurant one time.. probably about a year ago..... for an anniversary.... a younger crowd at the restaurant.. in general... and in the corner was this older couple (im saying in their late 70's maybe even 80's) and they had a table for 2.. candlelight, and they were talking and holding hands.. and laughing... and i was like WOW THATS AMAZING!!!!!! they have proably been together forever.. and haven't fallen into the sitting at the table eating not talking about anything.. PLUS you could STILL SEE THE UNCHANGING LOVE IN THEIR EYES FOR EACH OTHER..
Fh and I looked at each other and said.. I WANT THAT TO BE US

my FH's parents:
married 56 years and best friends
my FH is my best friend and I hope it stays that way.
we do however, have a few separate interests as FH's parents do too and it's imp't to continue to pursue those interests as well- that was advice they gave me

I guess for me it would be a mix of my grandparents who have been married for over 50 years and my parents who have been married for over 30 years.

For me, I would have to say my Grandparents. I wanted to wait till I found that man who was my soul-mate, I didn't want to settle cause when I saw the amazing connection that my Grandparents had, it was so touching. They were like one soul. They were still so in love up until the day my Grandmother past. I remember telling her that I've always looked up to them and wanted that same love. It's so rare to find, and when you do it is so worth the wait. I feel so blessed to have found my soul-mate, to have that amazing connection. I never want our love to fade, just get better and better through the years.

My grandparents will be married 60 years too on 04-02-09. That way I knew I had to get married on that date. Yeah 365 days to go.!!!

oh yes! my aunt and uncle. they have been together for a while before tying the knot (like fh and i) and they've been married for over 10 years now. they are so in tune with eachother. my aunt is like the sweetest pit bull and my uncle is so easy going. they know eachother inside and out and they always have so much fun, they look very happy. they are very responsible people all in all. i hope fh and i can achieve that type of relationship or better.

I would say my parents (married 40 years) and they never seem to get into an argument. They always seem so peaceful.
My girlfriend and her husband have a really nice marriage. They told Fh and I don't go to bed upset with each other and always communicate.
For myself and fh I find that when we communicate more we iron things out so much more quickly. So, I can honestly say that we have grown in that department because I would get pissed off with him and not speak for days.

My aunt and uncle have been together since they are 13. they are now in their 60's. They still are madly in love and it is apparent. They still hold hands even!

Honestly my parents and FH's parents.
FH's parents bcuz they still act like they are dating! they are so cute! they hold hands in the car or wherever they are!
My parents are pretty old school so i dont think ive ever seen them KISS! lol but i also never remember them getting into any MAJOR fights (even tho im sure they've had some) but they are attached to the hip and do EVERYTHING together just like FH and I!

Well both my and FH's parents are still married so they're good role models, but I think my favorite role models are my grandparents. They are just so cute together after all these years. I would definitely NOT want to model our marriage after FH's brother. It's full of lies and cheating.

I don't have a marriage that I hope mine is like, but I do have many that I hope mine is not like. My father and stepmother have a horrible marriage. They hate eachother. It is awful. My IL also have a horrible marriage. They don't even talk to eachother, but have been married for 31 years. I already told FH, if you don't love me when our wedding day comes don't marry me. lol

Me too... I don't really know anyone who has a marriage that I want FH and I to have. My parents are divorced (both unfaithful), FIL's are ok, they just don't seem very affectionate. One FSIL and her husband, when we see them, fight constantly because FBIL is an a-hole. So, basically i want our marriage to be the complete OPPOSITE of all of these! And I will try my hardest to make that happen!
