I really enjoyed being BOTW... :) Here is my last question:
Were you surprised when FH proposed or did you know it was coming? Did you have any say in the ring?
When FH & I moved in together (3 years ago) I told him that I didn't want us to be living together forever, that we had to get married lol. He said we will get married 'when the time is right'. I was working at Chili's and wasn't making much money at all... I was really struggling financially. I left Chili's and got the job I have now... and FH said 'okay, I think it's time' lol. I didn't know he was waiting for me to get a better job!!! FH knew that I wanted a say on my ring so he asked me to start looking at rings that I like and narrow it down to three, which I did. I had a ring picked out by last April. I knew FH wouldn't be able to afford it, so I expected a proposal no sooner than the fall.. Well, what I didn't know is that FH had money set aside, so he picked up the ring in May and in June he took me to the beach where we had our first date! He proposed. I knew it was coming but didn't expect it that day... I thought it would have been months later!

I knew it was coming because we had gone ring shopping together and I picked out a ring but I didn't know when. I thought it was going to be way later than when he actually proposed so I was so shocked when he asked me to marry him!

I did NOT know it was coming! FH lead me on. He said it would probably happen by the end of the year (2012) and he ended up proposing in MAY! I was shocked because I really was expecting that winter engagement. It was the most amazing surprise.
As far as rings go, FH knows I am a traditionalist and I like classic/vintage but I didn't pick the ring. FH has excellent taste when it comes to picking jewelry for me and my engagement ring is TOP NOTCH!!

FH and I were kind of always talking about it so I knew it would come eventually.. I had sent him some pictures of some rings here and there so he would have an idea of what I liked, bc I told him I wouldn't want to go ring shopping.. I kind of felt like it was gonna happen on Christmas, just because so many things leading up to the day hinted it to me.. But on Christmas morning when he was like stay here I'm gonna go get your present I was like omg no way this isn't happening I'm sure it's something else. And then it was the ring!

Ugh, Nothing gets by me, EVER! I always am in on EVERY surprise. We had been together like a month and a half shy of seven years this past christmas. I had been sick with the flu...I was EVIL, like seriously EVIL because his mother had not offered to take over cooking for christmas knowing how sick i was and she is the only person with enough space! So anyway we got home later that night and we exchanged like usual. He opened his gifts then hands me a box. It's an ear wax remover gun. I was like ***. He goes lemme go get your main gift. In my head I'm going, it's probably an Ipad, but he probably got the mini and I don't want the mini (b/c im a giant brat)...lo and behold I open my eyes and he's on one knee. I start yelling at him. WHAt ARE YOU DOING!? IS THIS A JOKE? THIS IS A MEAN JOKE! ARE YOU SERIOUS!? needless to say i was entirely surprised. like no joke stunned!! and it was my dream ring (thanks to my sister having it in her phone for a year or two now!!) HE even said if he hadn't of had dmy sister with me he would have had three stones, I said PHEW b/c it would have been returned (see ,, BRAT)

I was way way way surprised. FH and I had only been dating for a year (10 months when he went and picked out a ring!) so although I thought about it, and joked about rings, I did not think it was coming so soon. My friend at work, kept saying she 'felt' like it was coming for me, and I argued that I would have a clue if it was, or notice him saving money or something. We went of Vacation- nothing, Our Anniversary passed- nothing, My Birthday- nothing. Then the day after he surprised me and asked in front of my whole family, he even got in on film. I was beyond shocked. He really pulled one over on me. And good thing I had no clue, because he is a horrible liar and had I asked if he was planning to I probably could have read his face and knew about it.
My sister helped me with the ring, and I love that it was a surprise, and the Ring- I love it. So over all it was perfect!

We had looked at rings around Christmas so I kept hoping every holiday, every vacation, that it was coming. He said with work, he was going to wait until the end of the following year. On Valentine's Day, we had the worst luck making plans and had like four different dinner reservations. I was at work and on a whim left early to get my nails done...good thing I did, because he proposed that night!
When we went looking at rings, we kept looking at the solitaire with the bigger diamond. I started to feel guilty and told him to be more cost efficient to go with the ring with more diamonds and a smaller center stone. We went back to the store to try on the smaller diamond...little did I know he already bought my ring! I felt SO bad after he proposed and I realized I gave him a minor heart attack! Poor kid, he thought I changed my mind! Haha :)

I had suspicions but I did not know it was coming the day it was. I have these earrings that Fh bought me that I lost a stone out of over a year ago. Fh got them in new jersey so I gave them to him to get fixed. For over a year he didn't even attempt to get them fixed. All a sudden one day he came to my house with them. So now I was wondering why he was at the jewelry store. I had no idea 3 days later he would purpose. He wanted to do it where we went on our first date but it was destroyed by sandy. So he did it at Roseland ballroom because that was where we went on our second date. I immediately started crying when he got on one knee. I told him no yellow gold, and a round stone. Other than that the ring was completely up to him. I couldn't have picked a more perfect one myself if I tried.

I knew everything lol- he planned to propose in Central park, and had my friend try to get me to go into the city for lunch at the boathouse. I knew it was coming when she asked me to go a few weeks before, because she has never been one to just go into the city for lunch lol- The two of us were walking through Central Park to the boathouse and I saw him sitting under the gazebo by the lake. He did surprise me though by hsving a photographer hide in the bushes and take a whole bunch of photos for us. The photographer had all of these papparazzi pics of me getting out of the cab a few blocks away and everything. I also found out that my friend had gone into the city a few weeks before and had a whole breakdown of what path to take for the photographer to get the best pics. Very sneaky!

I was surprised! I had told him by the end of 2012, and it was Oct when he proposed. I had told him it couldn't be my birthday or holiday My birthday is 10/11 my mom had thrown a small surprise party for me that night since I was 25. Something in the back of my mind made me think ok maybe he is not going to listen to me and do it with all our families there. But the night ended and nothing. We were leaving for disney on 10/13 so I thought maybe then but I didn't even think at this point he had asked my dad permission or went to my uncle about the ring (he was a diamond setter and still had a bunch of friends in the business). It was more hopeful thinking then a real suspicion it would be in Disney. Anyway the day after my birthday (friday) I was at work, excited for vacation the next day, and next thing I know its around 3pm and Michael came in to my job with his niece and popped the question! I was shocked! He even arranged an engagement dinner that night with both of our families. It was amazing! FH is not romantic AT ALL and he totally shocked me with an amazing surprise proposal!
As for the ring, I had told him the size I wanted (never thinking he would actually get it. lol I should have told him 3 carats ) that I wanted some side stones and shape of the main stone I wanted. FH designed the whole ring himself so it is custom, which I totally love & it means so much to me that he did it all on his own! There are pics in my album :)

I knew he bought the ring, but didn't know anything about the proposal. I saw the Zales receipt and we had been ring shopping a couple of times so I wasn't completely out of the loop with that.
What I didn't know is that he was planning to come to my school and propose to me while I was teaching my fifth graders.
He also surprised my administrators because when he walked in and asked to see me, they first said no because like who the hell does that, but when he pulled out the ring he said they were like a 'flock of geese' and it was my principal's idea to do it over the loudspeaker.
I was clueless!

It does make quite the story, I also started sweating from my pits profusely...LOL I was like *** an ear wax gun!? he goes 'you use a lot of q-tips!' LOL I wouldn't trade my story for the worlds most romantic proposal any day!
FH let me pick out the ring. He bought it one month before our one year anniversary so I was on edge for 3 months before I actually GOT the ring. We had been talking about marriage since about 6 months into our relationship and we knew we were each others 'it'. He told me to pick out the ring since I was going to have to look at it every day and what not. At first I just started sending him rings I had liked and then he was like 'They're all SOOOO different. Just pick one and tell me 'thats it!' and I'll buy it'
I had an inkling of when he was going to do it only about 3 days prior when his brother made a comment. I played dumb for 2 days and then I legitimately forgot on the actual day.
He bought the ring at the end of august/early september... But he just kept telling me 'Before the end of the year'. So I thought he was going to do it for our anniversary (which I had bought him tickets to comic con so I thought he was going to arrange something then). Nope. Then I thought maybe on Halloween .. like he'll trick or treat at my house or something. Nope. Then I thought thanksgiving. Nope. So I stopped thinking about it. Then in the beginning of december he was making a BIG deal about doing presents on dec. 21st. So I thought it was going to be then. Nope.
He proposed on Dec. 13th under a meteor shower all planned out since we already knew we wanted to get married on 12.13.14. He mirrored our first date as much as he could (out in montauk.. on the 13th-which happened to be a thursday like our first date also-) and incorporated it into his proposal. I really had no idea it was coming then because he wasn't acting weird and he was letting me put my hands in his coat pockets since I was cold.
It was perfect. And I hate surprises... but this one was good :)
Edited: For spelling and I prematurely hit the submit button lol

I found my ring before he proposed! Well it was the bag with a ring box inside So I speculated it was a ring and I was right! (I refused to open it tho!!) He sat on that ring for weeks and weeks I was absolutely dying inside. Later I found out he was going to propose the week of Sandy but thought it was in bad taste to propose when our town was in such rough shape. When he did propose I cried like a baby. I think knowing there was a ring in our house built up my tension so when he finally proposed I lost it from being so happy! hahahaha

I totally knew it was coming, FH is so not stealthy at all. He tried to fool me, but I'm almost impossible to surprise. I told him what I liked and he picked it himself based on what I showed him. I absolutely love my ring!

I knew we'd be getting engaged... but I honestly thought I had a full year before it was going to happen. FH was in grad school and about to start his semester student teaching (aka not making ANY money). Although I knew if he could financially do it that it could happen at any moment, but didn't think he was ready, money-wise yet. Well, he surprised me... he figured out a way to get the money together and sure enough, a year earlier than I expected, we were engaged :)

I had absolutely NO IDEA! He proposed on halloween night in our kitchen since we were trapped in our apartment due to Sandy. When he asked I was pissed and cursing like a trucker b/c I thought it was his Halloween trick. He was out of work so it totally came out of left field.
I had no say in the ring though, b/c it's his mothers ring. She passed away from cancer 5 months before he proposed and left the ring for us. He wanted to wait for the perfect day to give it to me. I can't believe he hid it for freakin 5 months. I could never keep a secret for that long.
