QOTD - 4/7
Good Morning Ladies!!
I hope you are all having a good day, I know Monday's can be tough as we would all like to sleep in, just one more day.![]()
I have a 4 part question today, and my answers are a little long, but I will try and trim them up during the week.
I was thinking about the things we collect last night, and was wondering: What do you like to collect?
What does your FH like to collect?
Are any of the things you collect a unusual or have people surprised by it when it is mentioned?
Are you going to try to incorporate any of your collections into the wedding?
I collect Depression Glass, this if you are unfamiliar is glass made during the Depression. There are many different patterns, my favorite is the Iris iridescent, they also made a clear. They were often given out when you went to movies and such. I also collect Spoons from different areas of the world, I have 2 from Egypt and 2 from Italy, both gifts, and over 300 total. My favorite thing though and most unusual to people is swords and knives. I don't collect just any kind, they can't be something that looks cheap that you sometimes see at the Scottish Games at Westbury Gardens (sorry guys, it's true). I have a few copied from the Lord of the Rings movies and one from The Shadow. I have a few no name types just because they are different and beautifully done, in my eyes.
FH collects and makes some mouse decorations. He used to work with mice in his job as a Biochemist. Unfortunately he hasn't been able to find work for over 3 years. he makes his out of different types of wood and has quite a few cartoon mice. He also collects Avon cars, he does have a train, Liberty Bell and Cannon in there for good measure though.
The most unusual thing he collects is Bricks. These have names molded into them from one of about 130 brickyards that ranged from NYC to Albany, many along the Hudson. It was the largest brick making region in the world. the bricks were manufactured from 1840 until 2002. Many were used to build houses, and apartment buildings, but there were some that were fire bricks used for lining furnaces, kilns and fireplaces.
We are not incorporating any of our separate collections into the wedding, but our mutual one of shell collecting we are. We will have 3 large clam shells placed around 3 different size vases on all 10 tables, each with a tea light in our colors. 5 tables will have green and 5 purple.
Ok ladies, your turn, tell us about you and your FH.![]()
