QOTD 5/14

Morning ladies!!!!

Simple, to the point question today:

what is one piece of advice you have been given through this planning process that you feel every bride should know before the big day?

for me it would be to truly enjoy the wedding, dont sweat ay small stuff, as it goes by extremely quickly!!!! If something isnt perfect, dont worry, its not the end of th world, in the end u r still marrying the man of ur dreams!

i have a few -

this is what has been told to me -

when it comes to guests and all the drama about who to invite whos coming, the most important thing to remember is, the wedding is about YOU. i recently got very discouraged about the ppl that weren't coming to the wedding, but the most important thing about it, is that the wedding is about YOU and FH and whoever wants to be there to share your day will be there.

my advice to ppl -

don't forget what the day is about. its so hard not to get completely consumed with the 'planning' and kind of push to the side the fact that you are actually getting married! if you do everything in the mindset of 'i am marrying the man of my dreams, and we are going to have an amazing celebration no matter what,' it makes everything a little easier.

The best piece of advice I got was to focus much more on our relationship than the wedding planning, and to have fun with the whole engagement period.

A lot of people from work say 'What are you gonna do when it's all over?' and I'm like 'Are you kidding? After the wedding the rest of our lives start and there is SO MANY more exciting things to come our way'.

So I must say there has been no stress at all during this process-even if things have gotten touchy, FH and I laugh it off and find a way to work it all out.

1 more GREAT piece of advice that my boss gave me (10ers you should REALLY read this) was to NOT ask everyone their opinion on anything (dress, invites, flowers, honeymoon, etc).

It will drive you crazy. Just do what you and FH want.

Try not to stress. STRESS PLUS STRESS= MORE STRESS.
sometimes it's a hard thing to do. The key word is TRY! This is a day we all plan out hearts out for. Enjoy, party your shoes off & have the time of your life! Than go on your HM & stay NAKED AS LONG AS POSABLE!

!) Create a budget, first and foremost. Alot of ppl get carried away with all the details and it all adds up. You dont need to get the most expensive things because someone else did it. Do what you want and like!!!!!!!!!

2) Keep things in perspective I view the wedding as a big expensive party to celebrate the start of your life together with FH. If you keep things in perspective the planning process will be smoother and less stressful, well it was for me at least.

3) And finally, be organized...I know alot of brides leave things till the last minute and if you are that type of person dont have a major list of things to do cause it will only cause you stress. Do what you can with the time you have and plan things out.

Don't go crazy, because when all is said and done, you are spending a year's salary for some/most people on ONE DAY.

Someone once told me ...
in the middle of the night... stand in the middle of the room... with the music going and the people all around you.. Look at everything and take it all in. Burn it into your memory and take that with you because the day goes by so fast and it's hard to capture and remember everything that goes on. It will be a great memory for a long time to come.

This was by far my favorite piece of advice given. AND... I LOVE that ONLY ONE PERSON told me that so far! I HATE getting the same advice over and over and over again. It gets soooo annoying.

I know some of you posted... the 'don't sweat the small stuff'... but that one annoys the crap out of me because everyone says it. It's like yea... I know what's a big deal and what isn't (for the most part). I think moreso it just annoys me because EVERYONE says it. Don't be offended by that... I'm just speaking my opinion.

I feel the exact same way. The only area's I had a difficult time with were.... finding a dress (I hated shopping for that... because I was a little fatter then) and hmm.. Oh the makeup trial (I shudder at that one). But that's it. Everything else is so much fun. I love it! FSIL told us to have fun with the planning... as she did. But John and I are the type of people that just laugh everything off. We can be screaming at eachother one minute then making goofy faces at eachother the next.

Trust your own judgement, don't ask the opinions of others about EVERYTHING

To take a step back during the wedding and soak it all up, take it all in. I know I haven't had the day yet, but this advice really rang true with me, and I plan on taking it!

Best advice:

A wedding is an one day event. A marriage lasts a lifetime and takes real hard work to make work.

Many women long to be brides but forget about being a wife!
