Happy Friday Ladies!! Today's question of the day has to do with priorities and sacrifices when it comes to vendors

1. Who were the top vendors that were important to you?

2. What are you sacrificing in terms of budget?

Do you have any connections for certain services that help you save?

1. My #1 vendor that I NEEDED was AJ Ingolia- I just fell in love with his videos and knew I needed to be one of his brides. I am also so happy I found Jay Lim because of this site. Obviously my reception hall East Wind was top priority as well but, when I got engaged I wasn't set on a certain place or 'look'

2. Sacrifices I am making is that I probably won't get a DOC unless it gets closer and I really feel I need one and upgrading my cake. Also I may borrow my cousins headpiece and jewelry because it's gorgeous and it will help me save in that area. I had also plained to DIY centerpieces until I went to Burtons and saw the floral centerpieces I quickly changed my mind deciding on high/low so it wasn't too far of a reach

3. I am very fortunate to have many connections. My invitations are being made by my sister best friend so I am designing them in the fall to make sure I have them early. My cousin is doing my makeup because she is a make up artist and my hair will be done by the ladies at the salon I worked at for years. I am SO happy my make up artist and hair stylist will be at my wedding if I need a touch up

1. I think venue and photographer have been our top priorities.

2. We had to settle for a Sunday evening, since that was all we could afford. We also had to limit our guest list to only 60-70 guests so that we could save, and we just hope we don't offend anyone by not inviting them. I have also decided to limit the flowers and DIY centerpieces and invites. Let's see how that goes, I might change my mind depending on our budget.

3. Sadly, I have no connections. FSIL did get married last year, so the vendors she worked with usually agree to give us a slight discount. Also, our landlord is a caterer, so he has valuable suggestions.

1) the top vendors that were important to us was CHEEKY DETAILS! I knew I wanted to not have to stress about things about my wedding. I stress enough other things I plan an do on a regular basis I didn't want to have a heart attack planning my own wedding. I also knew I wanted a great photographer without the price and we found Ken Hild.

2) We are sacrificing on venue cause on Long Island venue pricing is just outrageous. We originally wanted one of the vineyards but after pricing them all out realized we wouldn't be able to fit anything else into that budget. Then fell in love with Giorgios and Land's End until we found out the price. So after visiting almost every wedding venue on Long Island we narrowed it down to 3 and based if off food and price and Jericho Terrace won for both.

3) I don't really have any connections. We know some people that work in the wedding circuit but not people who can give us free services or anything. I am a makeup artist but none of my connections would be willing to do favors.

1. Who were the top vendors that were important to you?

Pretty much every vendor was important to me. I had a specific vision that I wanted to get as close as possible to, and since I had a little less than 2 years, I knew I could search until I found what I wanted. After seeing 35 venues, 25 photogs, 15 bands, 3 florists, and trying on over 75 dresses, everything I wanted was within reach.

2. What are you sacrificing in terms of budget?

I know this sounds really obnoxious, but I refused to sacrifice anything. I currently work in a restaurant, so it's quick, easy money, and it's all CASH! So I was able to pick up extra shifts to pay for things I wanted, as opposed to a regular day job where you get the salary you get. We're also very lucky that my parents and FH's parents both contributed the majority share of the budget, so the things that we want to add as personal touches, or any upgrades I want, that we have to cover, aren't too bad since we aren't paying for the bulk of the large price tag vendors.

Do you have any connections for certain services that help you save?

As I said, I work in the restaurant industry, and so does FH. If you know people in the LI restaurant industry, you pretty much know someone who can help you. So we've spoken to friends who know people who can get us a photo booth for cheap, a makeup artist, hair stylist, etc. My cousin is a florist, so she was able to help me name each flower I want, and tell me how much I should be paying. And one of my bridesmaids is an artist/art teacher, so she is going to be helping with a lot of the DIY stuff, and the artistic stuff.
