Good morning!! Typing this on my phone so please excuse any typos.

I won't be on much today, I'll be at an offsite meeting for work which leads me to my multi-part question:

What do you girls do for work? What do you like best about it? What's the worst part? What's your dream job?

I'm an Executive Assistant for the owners of a construction company. I like that there's a little freedom to the job. The guys I work for are great. Still too new to the job to find something I don't like yet hahaha.

Dream job hmmm....I used to really want to be a teacher but sort of got over that haha. I kind of want to be a photographer!! Its so nice to capture moments like weddings and babies!!

I am a realtor for century 21 I love my job except for the fact that it is really slow right now I enjoy helping people find a home! I make my own hours and work as much as I want. When Im not in the office I work for my dad as a secretary he owns a powder coating shop.

I used to want to be a teacher as well but not so much anymore with all the job layoffs a lot of my friends are having trouble finding somewhere to work.
I would love to open my own business one day.

I'm a publicist. Best part about it is meeting celebrities and putting on high-budget events. Wost is that my hours are INSANE and that it is a very high-stress job.

My dream job is being an actress. I studied theatre in college and it was always my dream but I never pursued it.

I 'work' in consumer public relations. I say it that way b.c right now I freelance for 2 clients since my agency kind of tanked b/c of the economy. I'm looking for fulltime work right now in the public relations world :sigh:

My dream job is to work for a pro team - to be in the sports world is def a dream of mine.

I'm a geneticist. I do research in a lab and teach med students, grad students and undergrads. We study how aging causes heart attacks, strokes and blood clots.

I love it because I make my own schedule, I teach classes that I enjoy when I want to teach them, and I am teaching students about something that I really like.

The worst part is that in research, a success rate of 25% is good, so you are constantly failing and having to **** it up and start over Oh , and annoying undergrads who want their grades 30 seconds after they finish their final exam
My dream job is to be a trophy wife, louging poolside with a margarita

Currently I am a Bartender. I actually Love it I make more then most 40 hour a week jobs.

I went to school for Fashion Design and wanted to move to Cali but his business is here so we arent going anywhere. I was a Stylist for Banana Republic but my hours were HORRIBLE so until I find my dream job I am content

I work in promotional marketing - sweepstakes, instant win games, online promotions...I usually handle the end of the promotion..sending out winner's prizes. It's actually not exciting lol I also do some pricing for set up of mailings and have a slew of rebates which suckkk azz. lol

I want to be a writer. I have 3 uncompleted novels and tons of ideas in my head. FH is constantly ragging on me to finish something and get it published...and he wants to write a hip hop musical.

What do you girls do for work?
I'm an Executive Assistant/Market Coordinator for a radio advertising firm in the city.

What do you like best about it?
I guess the best part about my job is that when it comes to taking time off or having to take a day here and there or a half day they are prety easy going. Half the time I don't even take my lunch break or a stay a little later than usual so it all kinda adds up in the end. Hell my boss even has no problem with me taking 2.5 weeks for our honeymoon next summer!

What's the worst part?
there are a lot of things that irk me about this place on a daily basis. I sometimes feel that the work I do for not only my bosses but for everyone on this floor is not appreciated in the slightest. I'll get sent out to go get lunch for one of the presidents here and when I bring it back to her she doesn't even say Thank You. There are just random people her that get on my last nerve (they are just so smug and obnoxiously rude). My boss can really irritate the f**k out of me because she never has her sh*t together and we are always scrambling at the last minute to get stuff done for her meetings and trips because she never has her stuff done (yet all my work was done last week! ).

What's your dream job?
I never really had a dream job but I did have a few things I would have like to do - like nursing or teaching or being a paralegal. I am actually considering going back to school for nursing, to the point where I have a folder of everything printed out for what I would need to do to become an RN. But this is going to have to be put on the back burner until after the wedding and trip to Europe next summer. This would also greatly depend on whether or not I get a raise at my current job when I approach them in the Fall.

'Putting on high budget events'... so planning a wedding should be easy for you!

I'm a grad student in chemistry, so I haven't hit the REAL world yet. Basically, plants/animals make lots of different compounds that fight cancer or act as antibiotics, painkillers, etc. We try to make them in the lab by mixing chemicals. The best part is when things work well (rarely) and the worst is when they fail catastrophically (often). I love what I do, but it's really the biological applications that excite me most. When I'm done with my PhD, I'd like to work a bit closer to that interface... probably doing R&D at a pharmaceutical company.

Ha -- I'm good at spending my client's money. Mine...not so much.

I'm an auditor - and there's not much I like about it except for a few coworkers that I've gotten really close to - well I guess I like the fact that it's such a young age group and I can relate to a lot of them. What do I hate about it? - the work, the clients, the fact that we dont get any respect and that we're supposedly the 2nd most hated profession

I never really think about dream jobs - i think about staying home or just being rich but if i had to pick, i'd like to be one of those food tv hosts who travel to different countries cuz i love to eat and love to travel!!

I work for an engineering company as a document control technician. The project I've been on for the past 3-4 years is the new Transportation Hub at WTC.

The best part about it is being part of a project that will become a permanent part of NYC. I love this city and I was a H.S senior not far from WTC when 9/11 happened. That day really stayed with me (as I'm sure it stayed with alot of people) and so when this opportunity came along, I had to take it.

Another plus side of my job is that I get to work with FH . Makes the commute bearable.

The worst part is that the actual tasks aren't very challenging to me anymore. I really am looking for something more creative.

My dream job is to be a writer. I have all these story lines in my head or on random pieces of paper. I would love to write a best seller or become a food critic! Or both! Oh, or write movie scripts and commercials.

It really bothers me when commercials s uckand I always rewrite them in my head


eta: OH! FH always says I should try out for next foodnetwork star too. THAT WOULD BE SOOO COOL.

eta: How could I forget Animal Planet??? I always wanted to be like Jeff Corwin!

I am a Psych RN. Most days I love it, but when I get almost beat up I don't love it. Some days it gets scary, but for the most part its ok. I'm currently working per diem after working full time all these years, so its a little weird. I'm working on my masters right now to become a Nurse Practitioner.

My dream job would be to be a scuba instructor somewhere in the caribbean. I'm sure I wouldn't make a lot of money but it would be fun.

What do you girls do for work?
I manage a travel health office- we give people vaccines and RX's for when they are traveling internationally. Also, I manage the post- travel parasitology physician (for when come back and are sick).

What do you like best about it?
the Best part is all the interesting stories and places you hear about- I kinda live vicariously through my patients (which is sad, but they have the money!) I also get to meet celebrities and their families- we do vaccines for movies sometimes

What's the worst part?
The worst part is I am GROSSLY underpaid!

What's your dream job?
As sad as it may be- I want to be a Physician Assistant. I have been trying to get into a PA program for the past 2 years with no success. Next month, I start the process all over again

I am the executive assistant to the principal of a financial planing firm. I like the job itself alot and the people i work with. And I love all of the clients.
My boss is awesome, and has basically become my friend more than my boss- which is good when it comes to needing time off, but not so good when asking for more money.

I hate a few things too:
Its 2 hr commute from my FH's house ! Its a miserable drive.. true love will do it to you!
I hate working behind a desk 9-5. I want to make my own hours. Come and go as i please..
I am underpaid and OVERWORKED.
I am pretty capable, so i am taken advantage of often. They fired everyone around me and gave me all of their responsibilities, without their pay!!


My dream job would be to be an event planner. I ALWAYS wanted to do it, and now planning a wedding makes me realize how much i wish i was doing it full-time.
Every oppurtunity I had to do it was an unpaid internship, and I couldnt afford to take them with my killer student loans.


I also have my real estate license, but never did anything with it. Im hoping I can do that part-time after i have kids!
My one true dream job is to be a stay at home mom! One can only hope : )

What do you girls do for work?
I'm an administrative assistant for a company that manufactures xray equipment.

What do you like best about it?
The people I work for are great and they are really good about giving me time off.

What's the worst part?
It's an hourly positon without benefits even though I work full-time. I really have no interest in it.

What's your dream job?
I went to school to be an English teacher and am still holding out hope for September!


ETA: I also work part time for a tutoring company. Tutoring for the SAT, ACT, general English, etc.

I'm a graphic designer at a small agency in the city.

I love my job because of the small family atmosphere and its very casual in that I can come in late if need be and leave early as long as my work is done. Oh and I can wear whatever I want to the office

Things I don't love...my salary and sometimes i can work long hours with stressful workloads and deadlines.

My dream job is to be an art teacher!

I'm a medical assistant. I love helping patients and seeing different faces everyday. I work in a small office so all the patients know us by name and they will always ask about my wedding plans and FH.

I don't like my hours!!! I work Monday 8:30-3:30, Tuesday 8:30-7:30, Thursday 8:30-7:30, Friday 8:30-4:30 and Saturday 8:30-2:00. Also, I really don't get paid enough!!!!!

My dream job would be to open my own restaurant, bakery or boutique. But I also would love to be a teacher! I plan on going back to school after the wedding.
