After Parties... 1) Are you having one? 2) Where? 3) Are you paying? 4) Are you arranging transportation?
For us, we're having a day time wedding - everything will be over by 5. We'll be doing an after party at Prime immediately following the reception and we're torn about paying for the entire thing, paying for the 1st round (and having cute little tickets made up that they can hand to the bartender), running a tab (where the bartender only puts drinks that are asked for by the bride or groom) or doing a complete cash bar...
As far as transportation goes, we will arrange for shuttles back to the hotels from the reception at 5...but we're thinking of another round of shuttles at 8 (gives us a 3 hour after party) for the after partyers back to the hotels...
Your thoughts?

I think that's a great idea for day weddings. My brother actually had it a few years ago at his evening wedding but everyone was staying in the same hotel where they married. I don't think I'll have enough energy for it considering we are doing a bi county wedding at night... And they'll be almost 300 guests. Lol

Oh - that changes things a bit. Yea, we've got about 180 guests but soooo many out of towners (my FH is from Illinois) so we want to actually have time to spend with them.

We are getting married at Fox Hollow - which has the hotel on site. We plan on going to their new wine bar after the wedding and just continuing the party but I do not think we will be picking up the tab.

I think you should do a cash bar. If I was a guest I would not have an issue with that whatsoever, especially knowing how much you guys have put into the wedding to make sure your guests had a great time as well. Everybody should be buying YOU guys drinks! haha

We're probably not having one our wedding ends at 11pm and we have to leave early for our mini-moon the next day.

We hope to have one at the hotel where we are staying but we won't be picking up the tab. There will be a shuttle bus to take guests from the venue to the hotel.

This exactly. Although I don't see myself having the energy after such a long day since I know I'll be up at the @$$ crack of dawn =P

we will not be having an after party. Our reception is not over until 1 am. We will probably end up at the hotel bar afterwards but I agree, we will not be picking up the check there.

my wedding ends at 11 and I will probably not sleep the night before and wake up very early so the only after party i'm having is in my hotel suite with my husband and lots of pillows!... my fmil is having a big family brunch/pool party for everyone back at her house in the morning so that should be fun. fmil is picking up the bill for the brunch.... and our room and shuttle to the hotel is free!

Our wedding ends at 11, we're having a shuttle back to the hotel which has a bar that will stay open until 2, so plan is to keep party going there. Definitely won't be picking up the tab for it though.
