FH and I were talking about our seating plan last night so I figured I would post this as the QOTD:

What is your plan for or how did you seat your parents and bridal party?

We are having a sweetheart table so the bridal party will not be sitting with us. I plan on having two tables with just the bridal party and siblings at the table closest to us on the right hand side. I was always told that both sets of parents and grandparents or close family should sit together. My problem is my FH's parents are divorced and FFIL is remarried. They do not get along and I am sure they would be mad if I sat them at the same table. If I do no sit them at the same table then my tables will have random amounts of seats. Oh the annoyance of table plans!

We have no divorced parents so we did not have this problem.
We had all immediate family at the first tables (this included some bridal party). We did not really pay attention to keeping our bridal party together. My MOH is my friend, I sat her at a table with (mutual) friends and her parents.

My parents are at Table 1 with other immediate family members, same for his parents and immediate family at Table 2.

Then I have the girls of the Bridal Party at one table with their dates, and the guys of the Bridal Party at another table with their wives. Except for his Brother and cousin who will be with the immediate family tables.

It worked out b/c all the girls are friends and all the guys are friends so it probably would've worked out that way anyway.

I'm also paying attention to surrounding tables so people are close to others they know. Not sure if this is normal or super anal, but I'm too organized it's sad.

We're having a sweetheart table and will have family at tables 1 and 2, and then our bridal party at the tables closest to the dance floor. We'll try to have neighboring tables of people who know each other.

At my BFF's wedding we were at table 11, nowhere near the bride and groom. I was the MOH. It made absolutely no sense.

we are having family closest, including most of the BP. not sure exactly how tables work yet.
at my friends wedding we were in the BP (not MOH) and it was nice to have us sit together, but at another friends (same titles) i was more comfortable being at a table of local friends!

This made me curious so I just checked. FH only has 12 family members total, so I guess his entire family will be at his parents' table. His parents are divorced, but they get along okay. But if FFIL decides to bring his wife (they live in Europe and as of right now, he's coming alone), things might get complicated. If we have to split them up, it will be tough because then we'd have to mix family members with random friends. On the other hand, I have over 80 family members invited, so we definitely can't have a bride's side and groom's side in the room.

I was thinking having them mix in with the guest but closer to the front. Most of the BP is married or involved. I don't want them to sit separate from their 'dates.'

I plan to sit people with whom they will be most comfortable. Don't worry about putting divorced people together.
