QOTD 6/3

Hi ladies!

It's been fun seeing everyone's answers.

We've all been dreaming about our wedding day for a long time. We have ideas and themes and dresses in mind. However, sometimes our dreams just can't meet up with reality.

My QOTD is: What was something that you really wanted for your wedding day, but due to other circumstances, it is not feasible? It can be venue, an item you had your eye on, maybe a dress you thought would look good but didn't.

I personally wanted a barn wedding. I'm into rustic shabby chic and a barn is the ultimate setting. But, when I learned what it cost to rent out some of these places...

BUT I am still very happy about where my wedding will be and know it'll be a fun time!

All along I thought going with an all inclusive package we would have enough $ to get all the extras (sushi during cocktail hr, an exit treat, a a photo booth etc) but 2 problems 1) they advertise 100 people for 10k so I kept thinking 10k we can totally do that......we r having way more then 100 people....so it's more then.10k stupid!! Lol 2) mom ran into so issues and doesn't have as much for us as she hoped, I was banking on that but now we have to come up with it. So we will see what happens when we get closer what we can afford to add.

I think I really got everything that I wanted.I had my eye on a food truck for the exit but my daughters sweet 16 is having one and I cant afford to do both. everything else so far at least I am doing. Were pretty simple so we didn't break the bank with the wedding.

How much did they charge for the sushi? I wanted it to,I got it for the wedding and it was REALLY cheap to do it at Riviera....how much did the sterling want because I am thinking of doing it for the sweet 16.

I really wanted to get married at Hempstead House in Sands Point but a 8k site fee and nothing else included no thanks.

The only thing I knew I NEEDED for my wedding was a cinematographer.. and when I found the one I wanted- I was not budging no matter the price. Thankfully all our other vendors were well below the price we budgeted for so FH was never given the chance to say no! haha..

I think we're going to have to skip out on some of the small details I wanted.. a handful of things at a few hundred dollars each really add up, but we'll see.. I really want to suprise FB with a boudoir shoot, and a cigar bar.. I wanted personalized napkins and matches (which I think I might just DIY to save $$) and I might have to skip out on renting the centerpiece holder that I LOVE.. all things that wouldnt be the end of the world if we didnt get- I keep forgetting that it really is just one day.

So far, we've only sacrificed on date.. we wanted fall.. and it turned out October is more pricey than August and we also wanted a Saturday night but settled on a Friday to save $$. We do have the perfect venue though even though we have to guarantee 25 more people.. But the venue threw in almost 3K in add-ons for us for free to make the extra people easier to swallow. We're getting an exit station, pasta course, painters palate intermezzo, and ice cream sundae bar (at FH's request lol he wanted a Viennese and this was the compromise because of $)

I think the biggest thing I always wanted was a real real beach wedding with feet in the sand. FH would have not been too excited about the sand part since he isn't as much of a beach lover. Unfortunately because of money we couldn't afford the places that offer that. My second best was having the ceremony outside overlooking the water and LOB allows for that. Now I'm just keeping fingers crossed that it's perfect weather and we can have this dream ceremony I've always wanted.

I wanted a September Saturday wedding, in an estate. That was my vision before I got engaged. After we started planning and I realized the price of everything, things changed. I'm still getting married in a venue with an estate vibe, but not with the estate site fee, it is perfect for us. I never thought I would want an October wedding, but getting married a week after my birthday is actually reallllllyyy exciting!!!!

I wanted a Saturday fall wedding. Now the reality is im having a Sunday winter wedding w probably a chance of a blizzard. Call me crazy but I'm a true bargainista therefore if we can potentially save almost 8k for low season then so be it!!!

I got my dream hall though w a package out of this world which is my trade off and I always wanted manzanita centerpieces Im not into flowers at all. So when SC stated I could add that to my package by renting 3ft tall trees i was sold. My dream photographer was 5500 and while he's worth every penny I found an amazing photographer from Mexico super talented to shoot my wedding for 2500 when I say amazinggggg I mean it. My trade offs really haven't been to far off but saving $$$ is really my motivating factor. I truly want to have an amazing wedding but by putting limits on how much I'm willing to spend on a vendor has really helped me put my dreams closer to reality.

I'm not into flowers much myself. I plan to keep my centerpieces simple, featuring lanterns and very natural elements. I do like succulents though, and manzanita branches are really nice details.

I wanted a barn wedding as well! I had my heart set on the George Weir barn since we got engaged at Caumsett but we would be way over capacity.
