QOTD: Did your career choices shift after meeting FH?If you stuck with your career choice has it shifted any of his life planes?
Answer: I met FH a few months before i graduated college . I had originally went to FIT and then went to Queens college. But i was going to go back to FIT for Restoration art because i wanted to work in Museums or in Europe. But once i met FH i didn't want to leave him so i didn't follow my dreams . Maybe one day

I was originally a retail manager with crazy hours and what not. FH is a chef. We decided years ago it was best if I either worked a 9-5 job or finished getting my teaching degree. i currently work in an office and am finishing up my teaching degree then will get my CPA and do accounting on the side.

I actually met FH at work so no the job and us being able to complain to each other about helped us get through it and brings us closer

Re: *****QOTD*****
I met FH at my first job out of college. He had been working for his company since he was 16.
I would really like to get into a more creative field like advertising, marketing, fashion or writing but haven't because I feel that I would have to take a major paycut to start from the bottom again. We can't afford to do that with a house and a wedding.
I also have to admit that I love going to work with FH and maybe I am too comfortable having him around all the time.

I was not in college when I met FH. He actually was a big factor in me going back to school. Now, I am pre-med and he is an accountant and it works pretty well- his job is boring so theres nothing to talk about vs. my day that is crazy from minute 1.

i loved working with FH - esp since we hid it from people for 3 years so it was more exciting to see him. when he left for another job, i was pretty sad, but realized it was for the better

Hahah, when FH and I first started going out we tried to hide it from people but we were both too good at it. He wouldn't say 'hi' to me or come visit me and i'd be like 'is he acting or not interested?'
it messed with our heads so we said F it, and didn't annouce it to the whole office but we stopped the charading. Our office is so excited we're getting hitched!

lol that's pretty funny. we did such a good job with it, that when i finally came out w/ it after we got engaged and after he had left, people were telling me that I deserved an oscar for my acting (I always told people that I was single). pshaw

Re: *****QOTD*****
I was in grad school when I met FH. He was in the same position as a construction manager as he is now, just with a different company. I was already 2 1/2 years into grad school when we met and I wasn't going to quit so I stuck with it. It was a long road and we've really had to sacrifice a lot for it since I worked basically whenever I had to to get experiments done. In my career path there isn't a good time to have kids unless you want to put your career on the back burner, so we've also sacrificed there, although neither of us really wants them anyway. If I could do it all over again, I would have quit grad school when I met FH and gotten a real job where I made some money

Re: *****QOTD*****
I did that with my ex husband actually. I didn't go away to syracuse bc I didn't want to leave him. so stupid.
anyway, I haven't changed my career at all for FH. We actually met at my office. He was a college student working PT here. We didn't date until he was long gone from this place, but anyway...
I'd love to change my career now though. My choices brought me here but I think Id like to get into environmental engineering. It would be more fulfilling. I;m researching masters in engineering now.

I was already in law school when I met FH. There will be no changes for me. I worked really hard to get where I am and to make sure I could always provide.

Re: *****QOTD*****
FH and I were both set in our careers when we met. I had only been working at my job for about a month when we met and he was still searching for a full-time teaching job.
Not he is tenured doing his own thing w/ the kiddies and I am searching for full-time work but in the same field.
But with him being tenured we will never leave NY but in my line of work being in NY is best b/c most media and major brands are located or have a presence here.

Nope no changes.
I've been working in marketing for years. No plans on changing any time soon.
He's a Sgt in the Sheriff's Dept here and has been for a few years. The only thing that he changed was going from a Patrol Position to a Detective in Internal Affairs. He wanted something that had more normal hours so that we could spend more time together.

Re: *****QOTD*****
I've been flip-floping from jobs bc of the economy. Plus, my FH was just let go from his job yesterday due to lack of work. I've been having to work as a nanny bc it's the highest paying job I've had in a while. I make the majority of our income anyways, but now it's all up to me.
While I really do love the boys I care for, I'm an office girl. I'm a multi-tasker, and like to be busy bc the day just flies by. Now its, play time, bottle time, nap. repeat and repeat a 3rd time lol

Re: *****QOTD*****
hmmm,, i was in college when i met fh.....i am now in the social work field...i do have 2 side jobs...one i really hope turns into something more at some point or another....the other is for extra cash and i have fun with the people i work for...i plan on staying in this field, just doing different things with it....teach, supervise etc...
fh was at a crappy job when i met him and had his associates degree....he has since gone back to school (slowly finsihing) and has a better job now...he def wants a career change...
so that is where we are at!
my dreams are: resturant owner, wedding planner, open up a homeless shelter and to open up a gymnastics school with my moh and bm...if any of these opportuinites come up, i will jump on them! so a change is def an option!
