was your engagement a surprise? Also, did you go looking at rings with fh?
The actual day was a total surprise... He did it on a random day after work but I did know it was coming soon! I had showed him a picture of the setting I liked and we went looking to try it on and make sure it was the one I wanted :)

I knew it would be coming one day, and he definitely knew what kind of ring I liked. But the actual day was a total surprise. We were on a family trip to Disney World celebrating my son's birthday, so I wasn't thinking about engagements right then.

Mine was a total surprise. . . We went on a hike and I had nooo idea it was going to happen then. I was looking down over the cliff and when I turned around he was down on one knee :) Too cute and I was super super shocked . . . He knew what type of ring I liked, but we never went shopping for a ring together.
I loved the way he did it because I truthfully had NO idea

I knew it was coming but FH refused to let me pick out rings. He surprised me one afternoon when I came home from work. I wouldn't change a thing!

I knew it would eventually be coming but it was definitely a surprise. Years back I used to send him pictures of rings that's when I was putting pressure on him. But he chose my ring on his own we never even went to try rings on.

I knew he had the ring, but he planned a perfect 11/11/11 11:11pm proposal that was a surprise. We picked out the setting together and then the stone. He wanted to pick out the stone, but he was totally overwhelmed with the whole diamond grading thing!

We went and designed the ring together so I knew he was going to ask me I just didn't know when and where. I didn't think he would be able to get me but he did!

We looked at rings together a few months prior so i expected it to happen at some point but i didn't know when. every weekend we were doing something my sisters and i would discuss whether or not this was it LOL one weekend we were finally right, but it was after i had convinced myself it wasn't happening for another few months so i was a little surprised!

It was a total surprise! He knows what I like, so he did a great job with the ring. I knew we were going to get married, but I thought it would have been at least another year before he popped the question. I was shocked but so incredibly happy.

We knew we wanted to get engaged and we casually looked at rings when we were at the mall or browsing online. He was definitely listening and observing well because he got my dream ring!
When he proposed to me i was totally floored...he proposed in the plane right before we jumped out to skydive! When i floated down in the parachute and landed he was on one knee with my gorgeous ring. The whole experience truly took my breath away... no one has ever put so much thought and effort into something for me.
Here's a link to the HILARIOUS video of our skydive proposal: click here

It was hard for my FH because I don't wear jewelry! We agreed on an alternative type of ring that was not expensive that I wouldn't return and wore for a week. As for the asking part it was seriously a disaster..lol..I got very ill and had been at doctors offices for two days my oldest daughter crashed both her car and then my car in two days and received third degree burns I was a wreck and we went by his house just so I could calm down for five minutes. He hands me the ring and says I'm in are you? I said yes and I went to sleep for the first time in three days..lol

Re: QOTD 7/31
It was supposed to be!
FH moved up from Florida to be here with me, and he had a rough time finding a job given the economy. I didn't think he had anywhere near money for a ring, even though I was waiting for him to propose.
On the night of my 27th birthday - which he forgot - he finally came out to head out to dinner with me and my friends (who came to my rescue when he forgot my birthday).
I called his name while he was chatting with a friend and he turned around, flashing his cell phone, which had a picture of a diamond ring on it.
I was like - why does FH have a picture of a diamond ring on his phone? Then shortly figured it out. It gave me the heads up.
Second proposal - because the first I was angry at him - no. Clueless, and it was great.

Mine was definitely a surprise. We had been together for over 5 years, so I knew it was coming eventually, but I had no idea. I had been looking at rings and showing him the settings I liked, but he always replied 'I don't care. If I'm buying it, I'm picking it.' That's the type of guy my FH is, so that was not a surprise lol. He did always tell me that he wasn't ready, but I figured it couldn't hurt.
