Well this is my last QOTD. It's been so fun. Thanks for choosing me!
Ok, seeing that it's a holiday, i'll base my last question on that.
As usual, my FH's family is having a BBQ. This is the 1st year we havent spent it on the boat w my parents, but jones beach cancelled their fireworks.
Does anyone have issues w splitting holidays? How do you handle it? Do you spend some apart? Go to both together? And do you have any issues bc of it?
***********************************************
FHs family has a party for everything. I mean every possible reason. We sometimes find ourselves splitting up for T giving, xmas, mothers and father's day. For less important holidays we either choose one or the other.
FHs family is way understanding. My parents arent. They get upset if i go see his family instead of my own. I had this issue on mothers day and my mom was mad i went to see his family after. Sigh.
Anyone else have this?
And stay tuned for your new BOTW!

Re: *~*~*QOTD 7/4/10*~*~*
Its pretty much been worked out for us haha since my family is 8 hours away. We do pretty much every holiday with his family...i do try to go home every other christmas to be with my family. I usually go alone because i dont want him to not be with his family on christmas...once we are married and/or have children, it'll be different.

Holidays are one of the most stressful things for us. We try and make it as fair as possible. We usually eat dinner at one house and dessert at the other and switch for each holiday. It really helps that both our parents live in the same town so we are able to do it.

We usually make an effort to see both. Since literally each house is least than a half hour away we will spend the day at one and have dessert at the other. We try to switch up who we go to first. I think the first place we go always gets the best of us.

We try to fit both families in; but usually he's ok with going by his family first visitng; and then ending the night with my family

This is a BIG issue for us!!! Especially because I come from a divorced family - our holidays have to be split in 3! We luck out for Christmas, my mom's family does a huge party on Christmas Eve - We then go to my Dad's early Christmas day and stay until 4 - Then we go to FH's family's house for dinner and gifts. Then we split Easter and Thanksgiving - if we are with my family for Easter then we are with FH's for Thanksgiving and the following year we reverse it.
We split 'my' holiday with my mom and dad. If it's FH's holiday I don't see either side of my family.
Does that make sense? It's kind of hard to explain lol

we always do the holidays together but my family always gets shafted bc god forbid we missed a holiday with his mother.... she would lose it! so to avoid her craziness he gives in :(
