QOTD!

Ladies - -has anyone started posting questions of the day?! If not lets start! I'm not sure how we pick who does the next one, so on and so forth but I just saw it on the other boards and wanted to hop on it.

So with that being said......

What made your engagement SO special? (Besides the fact that you're marrying your dream man)

For me, it was the fact that we hugged and kissed and said 'I love you' right before he proposed. It was such a genuine moment and I'll never forget it.

What about you girls?!

I'm not too sure how it works either, lol.

For me, it was knowing how much work he put into making sure everything was perfect. From going out of state to making sure we got the only room in the B&B with a balcony and a hot tub to the weather to the view. Right before he proposed, I was taking pics of the water view and I had said, 'It really is the little things!' And when I turned around, he did it.

I love reliving that day :)

That he was able to keep it a secret! Usually I can read him like a book, and since we had never been on a vacation anywhere before, when we booked I immediately thought that's where it was going to happen. About a month before the trip he got really upset and kind of broke down about how he felt pressured by family and felt bad that he didn't have the money, but he wanted me to know he couldn't afford it just so I didn't go away with any expectations and get let down (he had already bought the ring at that point), and I felt AWFUL. I assured him that I didn't care when he did it as long as it was when he wanted to and that nothing would ruin our first real vacation. Well it worked and I was totally surprised!!

For me it was the whole thing. I am very hard to surprise yet I LOVE being surprised, go figure. He has his goddaughter involved which I was secretly hoping he would (and never expressed that to him). He got it on video. I was totally surprised, I never thought he would do it in front of anyone & he did it in front of my office. They are like my family & I loved that they were there for it. He also planned an engagement dinner to celebrate that night with our families. I love reliving the moment.

LOVE this story! There were a few times when FH thought the surprise was ruined (and there were definitely some dead giveaways) but lucky for him, I've always been blissfully ignorant. It's so nice to be surprised though!

ALL OF IT!! We got engaged in Alaska on a cruise. We woke up super early to see the highlight of the cruise, the Tracy Arm Fjord. He gave me a book with pictures of us in it--and got my parents involved by taking pictures of them holding signs that said will you marry me? and put them in the book. He had the ring for FIVE DAYS on a boat, 3000 miles away from him before asking me!!
To make it even better, he got the whole thing on video from two different angles.
Lastly, when we got home, he had both of our families there at the airport. My parents are divorced, so this meant the WORLD to me.

It really was so nice to be surprised! Now that I think back there were definitely a few times where if I thought about it, it was obvious. I guess since I wasn't looking for it - it wasn't obvious to me.

That's so nice that he had your parents so involved and waiting at the airport! How was the cruise besides getting engaged? Going on a cruise to Alaska is on my bucket list!

It was BEAUTIFUL!! Every time I think about it, I wish I was back there. Neither of us are beachy kind of people, so it was definitely for us. Tons of rain, a little chilly, and so much beautiful scenery. DO IT!! You won't regret it!

It's hard to pick one thing about such an amazing day that made it so special! It was a combination of things from how hard he worked to surprise me (strapped the ring box to his ankle with electrical tape, yea, that happened) to the thoughtfulness which was planning it on my 30th birthday and at The Bronx Zoo (which was the same place where exactly one year before we found out our offer on our house had been accepted). But more than anything i think it was the ease of the moment, we had beautiful weather & were just looking at the animals & talking about how wonderful the past year of living together has been. I never wanted to be proposed to in a public place but we managed to keep it a quiet moment that was just for us, no one noticed, no hoopla, just the two of us, the polar bears and the most beautiful ring I'd ever seen.
