Good morning and Happy Monday everyone! I am excited to be your new BOTW and hope my questions don’t bomb too badly!

One of my BM’s recently broke up with her BF and was telling me about a first (and last) date she went on this weekend. Which lead me to the QOTD:

When and where was your first date with your fiancé? What memories stand out about the date—good, bad, funny or otherwise?

Our first date was on March 4, 2004. Jason and I had been talking for about six months online and on the phone, as friends, before he finally came to visit me in NY. I picked him up from LaGuardia that morning and was shocked when I saw what he was wearing—linen pants, a short-sleeved t-shirt, and (what I have come to lovingly refer to as his) hippie Jesus rope sandals—which smelled like wet dog when they got wet lol.

It was freezing cold and rainy that day and he was totally unprepared for the outdoor activities I had planned. So, I decided to take him for coffee instead. We stopped at Starbucks in Howard Beach (because it was my favorite location), then I took him briefly to Rockaway Beach. Jason hadn’t seen the ocean since he was 7 yrs old, so he was like a big kid and got very excited. Even though he was freezing, he “had to” go in the water. I knew I was in serious “like” at this point in the date as I love me some spontaneity!

Later on, went out to dinner at Benihana with my family. Jason had never been there before (food-wise, he was living under a rock). So, again, I got to experience it through his eyes, which was very amusing (he was a big fan of the onion volcano). After dinner, we went out for a drive and ended up at the movies, to see The Passion of The Christ…not exactly what I would have chosen for a first date, but somehow we still ended up kissing through most of the movie. There was a Whole Foods next to the theater, so we went shopping together afterwards (to load up on vegan treats).

We got home just after midnight, and it was then that Jason “popped the question” and asked me to be his GF. He had been waiting until it was technically March 5th since he knew that 5 was my favorite number. And that is the reason we chose 3/5/14—ten years after our first date—to get married.

That's awesome! FH's and my first date was technically March 5, 2004 (one day after you!). It was a blind date and we met at my (all girls) high school. My friend who set us up was in the play that night. After the show, we all went to a nearby diner and everybody set it up so that I had to drive FH. Nothing in particular stands out to me except feeling REALLY excited and happy when I was driving home at the end of the night!

I can't remember the exact date of our first date, but I do remember it was a Tues! We had plans to go get coffee in a few days, but FH called me when I was at work and said he just couldn't wait to meet me anymore (we had been talking for 3 weeks online and phone)and was 'in the neighborhood' and wanted to bring me coffee. Well I found out later it was a total lie he was working in Farmingdale and I work in Bay Shore, and on his 1hr lunch beak he drove the 20 min here to bring me coffee and 'see me' finally. I just thought it was soo sweet and it was the exact way I felt about him too, I couldn't wait to see him. We did have that coffee date a few days later, which was our 'first date' officially, but I still count the time he came to visit me at my job, it was also the first time he met my dad, since he was working with me at the time hahaha. Poor Guy.

FH and I met on twitter!! We both graduated BU, so somehow we started following each other. We finally met in March of 2010 at Miller's Ale House - he was with a group of friends (supposedly) and I dragged my BFF/MOH with me to meet him. Basically all night was spent waiting for him to show up - he claims he was looking everywhere for us but couldn't find us because it was so crowded.

When we finally met, I felt a spark immediately but I was pretty scared because I had been burned a lot recently. Long story short, we didn't see each other again until July when I finally agreed to go out on a real date with him.

We went to Jameson's in Floral Park and FH claims I got drunk on black & tans (liar!). It went great, we kissed (though who kissed who first is still a huge debate!) and he broke all the rules and texted early morning the very next day.

Since then we've been inseparable! :)

Lori--so, we are sort of date twins! :)

Jackie--I love that your dad was there. Jason met my dad that first evening and I felt bad for him too. Lol

Jessica--I live within walking distance of Jameson's! It's one of my favorite happy hour spots haha.

We met on Jan 11, 2008. Our first date was Jan 19, 2008. We went to runyons for Beers & wings then off to a NY Islanders Game. It was totally the perfect date. We have been together ever since!

Yes! We should grab a beer some time if you want. Guinness is one of my favorites. Have you ever tried it with hard cider instead of a traditional black & tan? So delicious!

Our first date was to the movies to see Taken, and it's still one of my favorite movies, totally our type of movie. We went to Roosevelt Field which was completely deserted, and it was only one very loud family of 8, and us in the theater. We held hands on top of the cup holder, it was cute. I remember thinking it was meant to be because I wore a hoodie, jeans, and converse on a first date without even thinking, (my comfort clothes), and didn't even think to dress up. We've been so comfortable together since day one.

I remember Runyons! My ex and I used to go to the one in East Meadow all the time. I think it's a different steak place now. But yeah, beers & wings sounds like an awesome relaxed first date--love it!

I love this! Aside from being cold, Jason was very comfy and I was way overdressed for our first date. That was one of the last times I wore heels around him actually lol.

Our first date was November 11th 2011. We went to the movies, he let me pick the movie we saw Puss in Boots cause there wasn't really anything else in the theaters I wanted to see at the time. I just remember we had really great conversations and hit it off really well. Also when we were watching the movie I just had that feeling like this is going to be different. He gave me that butterfly feeling. When he dropped me off he didn't try to kiss me so I kissed him.

Our first date was on a Sunday, October 30, 2011. He picked me up at my parents house to go to brunch at Barrique. Before we left he made sure I brought my ID. Unfortunately, it was in my car that my mom had taken to do errands so before we went on our date we had to track down my car and get my ID....lol woops!

When we got to the restaurant it was so adorable. We shared a salad and talked about anything and everything. After we went to the movies to go see Paranormal Activity 2. It was soooo bad but hysterical because he kept jumping at some of the scarier parts.

On our way home we talked about hanging out again and planning our second date. When he dropped me off he didn't kiss me! I thought it was so weird because he seemed to have a good time but there was no kiss! After our second date we were inseparable!

I couldn't tell you the date of our official first date. FH and I met as freshman in college and did the whole 'friends' thing for months (though I always wanted him). It was over spring break when we were separated, that John realized he liked me as more than a friend, and we made things official over the phone on March 9, 2008. After our return from spring break, it was tricky trying to make sure our new relationship did not upset our group of friends, so we didn't get very much couple time for a while. Maybe a week or so later, we went to the restaurant style dining hall on campus-- haha we had no money, but we had meal plans! That was our first official date.

Our first date was August 28, 2010. We met at Charlie Brown Steakhouse and had dinner followed by The Last Exorcism at Island 16. I am an observer so when I am at a restaurant I browse the room and see what other people are eating. I am nosey and interested in what the most common dishes are so on our first date I was doing that and FH thought I was crazy lol. If you ask him about our first date he will tell you that I was awkwardly looking at everyones food haha. Another memorable moment was the movie he took me too. It was AWFUL!!! To this day I say why in the world did we go to see that. We thought it was funny because it was terrible but I have noticed that we always watch those possession movies I wonder now if it is because we are secretly in love with them because it was our first date movie.

Our 'first date' was more like a first week. He drove 14 hours and showed up at my house at 11 PM 3/13/12. I remember being so terrified to finally meet him after talking to him online for so long that I ran downstairs to tell my dad he was here who then ran outside. My dad met him before I did by about two minutes. He came inside, talked to my dad, gave him his keys since he was going to be leaving his car in our driveway and staying at my dorm with me and off we went. We were headed back to the dorm when we decided we didn't just want to go there- we wanted to do something. So, we drove through the McDonald's drive through and got food to bring back to the dorm. When we got back, we sat and talked for four hours while we ate our food and then went to bed. That week we went to Jones Beach since he had never seen the ocean before, he met my friends, and we spent a lot of time just sitting and talking. When it was time for him to leave 4 days later, neither one of us wanted him to go.

Great question! Our first date was on September 5th, 2011. We had decided to get a drink at Tommy's in Port Jeff, and Adam was picking me up from my dorm room at Stony Brook. However, his GPS navigated him to the Stony Brook stadium, so he was driving around Stony Brook University for 20 minutes trying to find my apartment. I totally thought he stood me up, and I was mad, but then he showed up 30 minutes later. Tommy's was so much fun. I drink really fast, and it was funny coz I noticed him trying to keep up with me. He had mentioned how he really liked Wendy's but there wasn't one around him, so I then took him to the Wendy's by me. I realized I really like this guy, and that made me really nervous, and I kept messing up the directions. We ended up getting lost again lol. Our final stop for the night was at John Harvard's Brewery, where we ended up talking until closing time. It was the best date I had ever been on, and the connection we had was clear to both of us. Been together ever since!
