How do you and FH split up holidays between families? Will that change once you get married?

Fh is from another country. So thanksgiving is a different date so that one we can attend both. While the past Christmas he has gone w his fam and I am with mine. Easter we have have done ever other. Since I'm moving there I think most Christmas will be in New York bc we could always see his family

We do every other. When we have kids we will do a lot of driving. This year for easter his parents and brother came to my house. But otherwise we switch.

We don't often have big family gatherings for holidays, so more often than not I am at FH's. That will certainly change when we have children.

FHs family really only has a christmas tradition that they celebrate on Christmas Eve which is perfect because my family does Christmas day.. Easter is always spent out in the hamptons with my distant family and Thanksgiving we float around to friends and other family. once we have kids I definitely will take over SOMETHING even if it's just us for Thanksgiving.

This is so tough for us and I'm sure we'll have to figure it out on a yearly basis. It's very rare for FH to get holidays off but we've been lucky enough to do thanksgiving together for the last few years and it's always been with his family. This year I've claimed it for my family lol. Christmas is usually my family since his goes up to Maine and it's worked out well so far!

We've been splitting so far. My grandfather was diagnosed with cancer recently though, so my fiancé and I both agreed that its really important to go to my family's this year because who knows what will happen :-/

FH's parents are divorced and his dad remarried so we have 3 houses to consider visiting. We just hop around between my parents and one of his the day of the holidays. We usually end up spending more time with my family so I can't really complain. I don't think it will change until we have children. Then I don't think it would be feasible to traipse all over with kids in tow so we'll see. Most likely, we'll end up with my family.

Holidays are difficult because we both come from very close families, mine in particular is very large. Christmas Eve is my nephew's birthday so we have an early dinner with his parents and then go to my sister's house for the rest of the night. Christmas day is crazy! We start off spending time with our own families, then go to RVC for my family and end in Wantagh with his family. Once we start having a family of our own we'll have to figure out something different because I don't want to spend 3/4 of Christmas driving from place to place. Christmas is my favorite time of year but there's always so much going on that I feel like I very rarely get to actually enjoy the day because I'm always on the move.
Thanksgiving and Easter are pretty laid back. We spend Thanksgiving morning making breakfast, drinking eggnog and watching the parade together. I go to RVC with my family for a little then I come back and FH and I cook dinner and just relax. Easter is pretty laid back, we don't do much. This year we'll be on our HM for Easter!

We switch each holiday every year. So for example if we spent thanksgiving with his family last year, this year we spend thanksgiving with my family.. It works well this way!

Right now, we spend most holidays at FH's mom and grandmas house since my family doesn't live in the US. My parents might move here in 3-4 years, then we will probably alternate holidays.

We don't argue much...but when we talk about splitting up the holidays, especially Christmas, all bets are off!
Haha well I'm being a little dramatic with the emoji but holidays with his family and his tradition are so set in stone, he hates being away from it. I understand that of course. We have been together for four and a half years and in that time, he's been with my family for 2 Thanksgivings, 1 Easter and as for Christmas, oh boy, he has never spent a Christmas Eve with my family but he has gone over for Christmas Day with me once or twice.
Should be interesting when we get married. I joke I'm going to take our future children with me if he wants to do Eve by him haha. Obviously I'm kidding but I'm sure we'll work something out.
Thankfully my Fh fam is super Italian so they do a big Christmas Eve then we go to my fam's for Christmas. Other than that we alternate thanksgiving and Easter. I'm always so thankful Christmas is never something we need to figure out

hmm.. we usually spend Thanksgiving by my family, christmas eve with his fathers family first then with my family later on. christmas day we have brunch with my family & then head to his mothers. Easter we usually swap every other year, either his mom's or mine. Palm sunday is usually with his fathers family. It seems to work well right now. I hope it continues when we have children.

This question makes me so sad... last year was the first year we split holidays. We stayed with his family for Thanksgiving and Easter and stayed with my family for Xmas Eve and Day. I know that can't happen every year, but it is difficult because our families live in different states. I suppose we will change it up every year to try our best and be fair, but I can't even imagine missing Xmas Eve with my family... boooo :( lol

The past couple years it has been my family for Thanksgiving and Christmas day.. His Family for Easter and Christmas Eve.. I think my parents are toying with the idea of inviting either his mother or father (trying to figure out a way to not hurt the other ones feelings of course) and their significant other over for Christmas.. Now FH parents do tolerate eachother and actually his mom and her bf still attend Christmas eve at his fathers brothers house.. but my parents are trying to thread lightly with this. LOL I have a feeling tradition will be changing :)
