What has been the most not so pleasant experience you’ve dealt with when hunting for an RH?





When I first started looking I went to this RH which name i will not disclose and I happened to be walking in there and the lady in charge of showing the place came up to me and was soo rude she was kind of drunk too and obnoxious she told me ' I can't help you with anything because I am at a wedding' (there was a wedding going on) which I do understand that they can't show me the place but at least be nice and be professional. She didn't even give me a booklet we immediately took this RH out of our list

I went to one place and the woman we met with was sooo incredibly rude. She practically refused to answer questions about the menu...wouldnt give us each our own copy to review and rushed us out the door. She also was rolling her eyes at my father each time he asked a question. This was all after we had to wait 1/2 hr for her. So I understand if it was a long day, but she is the one that held up the meeting. I almost walked out mid-meeting -- but my mom stopped me. Needless to say we left and never looked back

we went to one RH and it was nice, but we knew right away that we didnt like it but we had an appointment so we stayed. Anyways, the whole time the she was talking to us i just felt like she was reading a script, just didnt like her, didnt get a good vibe. i had a feeling she knew we really didnt like it. but oh well!

at one RH we had the weirdest banquet manager ever!!! he was just elating about the cocktail room, the different types of foods, describing the tastes of each one, how each setup would look, i don't know he was just VERY odd in behavior. I knew from the start that i didn't like the RH's style and didn't want to stay there and he kept elaborating on the menu, etc... i was like kicking my FH with my foot the entire time like OMG I want to leave!!!

At one RH, i did the whole tour of the place and didn't really like the decor of the place so i was already ruling it out and then we went into the office with the BM to go over all the other things and we were there for 2 hours already and i just kept asking how much??? and after 2 1/2 hours he finally answered and it turned out to be the most expensive hall i went to and after he told me the price i just wanted to run out, and the place wasn't even that nice-IMO

Funny enough it was with the RH I may be booking.

I went to CLM the first time & met w/ Tino who gave me a really good price for that 2010 Sunday before Labor Day. I asked how much for the evening and he told me he could get me the evening for the same.

So we came back for a food tasting. Afterwards when we were talking money and I was ll ready to leave a deposit.. he tells me that price was for the afternoon and there was no way he would have given that price for a night. He said the night was $20 more /pp.
We ended up walking out.

I went back with my friend last night & met with Nick. He was a lot nicer than Tino and I didn't feel like I was being rushed out. He told me that if I book with him (not tino) he'll give me a better price. So he told me the price and I made sure he put it in writting with 'Evening Wedding' written next to it.

But we'll see if I book. I still have to do the showcase/food tasting at Douglaston Manor tonight. I have to as the BM if I can come back on a night or day where the 'romeo & juliet room' is set for about my # of guests to get an idea of what kind of dance space I am wokring with. He says no.. I go to CLM.

I only visited one and booked it!!! Thankfully I didn't have a bad experience.

I didn't particuarly have any bad experiences at RHs I looked at. I did get depressed a lot after listening to how much everything cost though!

i've had some strange experiences with a few RH's that i had seen.
The one though that sticks out is a place where I had my sweet 16 and when i spoke to the BM on the phone she was like 'i will hook you up yadda yadda, we take care of our repeat customers...'
Well FH and I are in there and all she kept adding to everything we asked was 'If we dont make any money off of you I cant do anything for you' The woman would not give us a definite price and kept saying depending on the demand for the weekend, that is what would determine our final price!!! Ummm yea...FH and I laughed our butts off when we got into the car, Yes the ballroom was beautiful, but the BM totally turned us away.

The best is I have gotten several phone calls from her since we have been in to see when we would be coming in to leave a deposit!!! HAHA YEA RIGHT

They must have no demand for that weekend I guess so she wants you to demand it

In all 19 halls I have been to no one ever called me back to see if I was coming in to leave a deposit or book. I think that seems desperate.

The first Rh we saw was the worst one. The woman booked up while a wedding was going on so we couldnt see the rooms.....well when I called to make the appointment i stated please don't book me when theres an event so I can see the rooms. She was very obnixous and kept calling me over and over for weeks....even after I told her I wasn't interested!

the only bad experience was going to an RH was that the website looked so beautiful and in person it was a poop hole

I didn't even make it to this one RH I wanted to see! The BM never called me back and when I did get a hold of him, he could hardly fit me in to see the place. Then he called and left a message he needed to change the appointment again so I tried calling back and could never get thru to him again! So one weekend, fh and I drove to it (on a day he said was busy) and it was all locked up. We didn't even bother trying to go forward from there. Plus I didn't like the RH when I saw it in person from the outside anyway.

the first RH i went to didn't have a menu for me to take home. the women said she would e-mail me & three weeks later & seriously 15 phone calls later i finally received it. then i found out from a friend that the place is being sold thats why it took so long to get the menu. so when i called & asked her she said it wasn't going to be sold before 2010. well i then found out from a very reliable source that the deal will go threw in a couple of weeks.
