~QOTD 9/7/11~

Good morning ladies, the semester officially starts for me today so I won't be on until later, but I'm hoping some of your answers to the following question can help me justify my own answers.

Today's question: So far, is there anything you have splurged on for the wedding, something you went over-budget? Anything you saved on and went under-budget?

I splurged on the venue, which is the worst thing to go over-budget on since it is the most expensive! Oh well, I love my RH. I also splurged on makeup, but in the scheme of things, it's not that much (at least that's what I keep telling myself!)

I have saved on almost everything else. I am not talking to vendors that won't bargain with me. My biggest savings was my wedding gown (where I was sure I would go over budget!) but that was just luck (they had my dress as a double sample in my size and color, it doesn't get better than that).

I went over with my photographer. I just loved her so much and she was exactly what we were looking for. Also FH reasoned it's really the only thing we keep after the day is over.

I saved on my dress. I expected to spend thousands on a dress and luckily I fell in love with one that was only a couple hundred.

For us our splurges were on the photographer and the hall, as these were the 2 most important elements to us.

We spent a little more on the photographer, but in our eyes it is well worth it. It was something that was very important to us and we didn't mind spending the money. Also we're hiring a videographer and that's a little splurge, but again, so important to us!

The hall was right in our range and while it's clearly a large expense, we're getting the most for our (our my parent's) money.

I think we went slightly over budget on video, especially considering I didn't even think I really had to have it in the beginning. I HATE myself on camera!

But then I realized that I really wanted it to capture all the moments of my wedding that I might miss .. as well as all my family members/friends.

ETA: I think we got a great price on everything overall .. we shopped around and really love all of our vendors!

I splurged a bit on Photo but it's really all you have after the wedding is over.

I saved on video bc I am not hiring someone (well, as of today lol). My friend's father is taking video with an HD camera and is pretty talented in putting something together w music. It wont be a true cinematic video, but it will have the important parts on it. That makes me happy.

We definitely splurged on video but it's the only thing FH are paying for so we were able to spend a little more. We're under budget with music since we originally thought we were going to go with a band but then FH decided he wanted a DJ instead

Hmm, we've been very good keeping around/under budget on everything right now. I guess we are paying a few dollars pp more than we'd like for the venue, but that's just once the taxes and such got figured in, and it's really not that much. We also decided to splurge with when we went to the DJ to get some live music for the ceremony/cocktail hour, but even then, we pretty much stuck to budget.

I splurged on my wedding shoes and my wraps for over my dress I have saved pretty much on everything else including the RH because we are getting married in February.

staying around budget for most things but we are splurging on the RH, and went a bit over for dj and video. We're below our budget on florist and I think we'll come in under budget for shoes and invitations too.

SO FAR

photographer and my shoes are turning into alot more then i thought they would be, but IMO both are totally worth it!

and we still arent over budget in the long run so i guess thats good, but we still got a long way to go lol

I think I went over budget on invites even though I did not reach the max for my potential budget. It just still feels like I'm spending alot on it, but I love it and I think it will give my guests a wake up call that this is a formal occasion.

Definitely went way under budget with photographer. Honestly this whole wedding is just out of budget. I just keep adding things hoping I can afford it.

We are over budget on our RH, but we LOVE it so it doesnt bother me that much. And under budget - ive yet to book something we are under budget on, ughhh lol

We definitely splurged on the venue. We wanted something that would be under $125 pp after taxes and service, but our RH is a little over. We have made up for it by saving on everything else though.

Absolutely splurged on the RH. But love it so it's worth it! :) And as for now, we don't have a lot of things bought, so nothing we necessarily saved on or went under budget. Let's hope we do though!

we didnt really set a budget at first which was really dumb because we are spending a good amount on our RH which makes it very important to stay under budget on everything else! The only thing we have gone over budget on is our dj because FH had to have the lighting package! so far we have stayed under on everything else
