My mom always told me life is what you make of it. You can either make it chicken $h!t or chicken salad. I guess it was a new spin on the if life gives you lemons saying.

that's a great one!!!

it reminded me of another piece of advice i got (from my dad again) - 'you don't find yourself, you create yourself'. sort of has that 'life is what you make of it' feel...

not to sound preachy.. but i think that THIS one especially applies to all of us with the wedding planning....

'Life is what happens while you're out making other plans'

i know (firsthand) that things get so stressful and chaotic with planning... but there will ALWAYS be something (if not wedding planning, something else....), but its not an excuse to put the important people and things in your life on the back burner

I think those are three fantastic quotes that I try to live by. I guess it isn't necessarily advice, but I still love it!

It's something I need to work on, I'm usually so concerned with what other people might think that I forget to make myself happy...

My Grandfather always told me ' If you put 100% into a marriage and only expect 40% and the other person hopefully does the same it will work' And they've been married 53 years!
Also a friend reminded me when I was stressing the wedding planning... The day is about the two of us and our love, everything else is really secondary.

On a wedding note, I still like words from FI grandma, 'Plan for the marriage, not the wedding!'

When times get hard and your relationship seems strained ... think back and remember the reasons for falling in love with your significant other ... use that as your jumping off platform, not the anger you are feeling right now.

Well, I think I read this somewhere, but it's advice and I love it:

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.
Its popular with AA..but i find it useful in daily life...so its the best advice ive ever recieved

i say that everyday
