QOTD Finally Friday January 14, 2011

I still can not believe that I am BOTW and am so thrilled to have been picked.

Did you FH pick out your ring all by himself or did he have help?

My mom works at a jewelry store and he got in touch with her and asked if he can come in to look at rings. He brought my sister with him.

My mom picked out some settings and Andy picked from those. Then he did the center stone with teh jeweler without anyone.

FH said that my sister and mom were leaning towards another ring but he thought I would like the one he got better. He described the other one to me and I know he made the right decision!

It was actually his grandmother's ring so he had no decision making at all but I am REALLY lucky his grandmother had such good taste!

Kristyn: That's awesome that you were given his grandmother's ring. I would have felt so honored!

My FH did have my help in picking out the ring, I actually picked it out myself because I wanted a marquis diamond which is not a common diamond shape these days. I love vintage and I am sooo happy that he let me choose my own ring!

FH proposed with a solitare setting and said, this isn't the setting that we'll be staying with, he wanted my help.

So he brought me to the jewelers and it was amazing the relationship he had with them, apparently he spent hours in there researching diamonds and finding the one he wanted. He found a setting that he thought I would like but decided against it. When I went in with him I liked it but wasn't in love, then we found the one I have now and bought the matching wedding band right away.

He has good taste, but i'm glad I got to be a little part of the process. But man, when pressed he could talk for hours on this ring, he was so proud of himself

I know Im so happy we are finally doing BOTW! When I first got engaged there was barely anyone here and I am so happy you are all here now

FH and FMIL both did it! My center stone is over 100 years old and is FH great grandmothers & was my FMIL's stone (she is still happily married she just wanted me and FH to have stone) . The jewler said they dont even cut diamonds like this anymore so it makes it that much more special to me that its in the family and a rare stone!!!

FH picked the setting, I told him a couple things I liked every once in a while but what I got looked nothing like what I picked and I STILL absolutely LOVED it!!

FH picked out the ring by himself. We were supposed to go look together but he ended up surpising me.

Over the years, FH and I talked about what I liked and I told him I would like either a pear or marquis cut center stone. He has fantatic taste in jewelry and I've loved everything that he has ever given me. Whatever he picked out, i knew I would LOVE and i did! My friend introduced him to her jeweler in the city and they actually went in together, and spent the day picking out the stone and desiging the setting. It has such amazing detail from the placement of the diamonds in the setting to the millgrain etching.

I LOVE IT!!

FH and I went shopping together.. I picked out the setting which I am so so so in love with and then he picked the center stone by himself.

The engagement right I have is from his mom and his biological dad . His dad passed away when his mom was 7 months preganent with FH so it means a lot to him and his mom when we are married 10 years I will get my own. So it means a lot to all of us. So he did not help picking it out, he did not have a choice in the matter.

now to answer your question...we went together!! he knew that he was not allowed to get a ring without my approval first (yes i know im bad) but i didnt want to get stuck with a ring that i didnt like...and where it forever? nooo way..LOL

so we went together...we went everywhere!! and finally had our ring which was custom made in jersey! LOL the jeweler is great and now he is our jeweler so we go to him for everything!

good stuff....i am very happy

We knew we were getting engaged so we did do some ring shopping and I showed him the styles I liked. He ultimately had it made for me and I LOVEEEEEE it

FH totally surprised me. He did an amazing job and I LOVE IT. Funny story though- for some reason he thought I wanted a princess cut and thats what he had been looking at (I didn't even know he was looking) and a friend of mine got engaged and I was like, I just love her ring....I love the round center stone. So he was like you love round?? And I said yeah, why? And he was like oh just asking, lol. This was 3 mos before he proposed so I forgot about it, haha :)
