QOTD? If you paid for part of your own wedding.....

If you paid for part of your own wedding, or for anything at all, What items/luxuries have you cut back on?

I don't get my nails done on a regular basis anymore..
Plus, I think I let my roots grow out a bit too much! I can't wait till I can actually spend $$ on myself again!

Isn't it sad that I can't wait for my wedding to pass! :)
J/K, I feel like all of the hard work & saving will make my day even more special.

Phew, where do I start...

-No manis or pedis for the better part of half a year
-No hair cuts or color
-No eating out, lots of home cooked meals
-Brown bag lunch at least 3X a week
-No going out (movies, shows, etc.)
-What's shopping?
-Christmas budget for 15 people = $300
-No gifts for each other for birthdays or X-mas
-No 'dating' anniversary celebrations
-No free time since that was spent on second jobs or sleeping

We did this for a little over half a year. We booked our hall in late Spetember for a May wedding and started saving madly. It was HARD, but we paid for the wedidng ourselves, so we had no choice. But I can say this...it was so worth it!

Isn't it crazy to see how much you can save by cutting all that out. I miss going out to happy hour, movies,
new clothes. I can't tell you the last time I've been to the mall!

It truly is nuts! We were able to save almost $800 a month this way - we also barely used the car so we saved a lot of gas. We're in 'house saving' mode now, so I wish I could say my life went back to normal...but that was only the case the first month and we totally got spoiled on the HM!

we went out to eat maybe twice a month
brought lunch to work everyday
no clothes shopping besides HM clothes of course!
no gifts for each other and no gifts for anyone for xmas (everyone understood) besides my little brother
no concerts (which I am BIG on) and thankfully my favorite bands complied with my schedule!
nothing else extra - trips, movies, etc

Living with the parents...no rent, no grocery bills. A little pathetic feeling at aged 27, but hopefully will be worth the extra pennies saved in the end!

Definitely shopping. I have stopped buying pretty much everything but necessities for myself. I couldn't up my mani/pedis!

-i stopped getting highlights (too expensive) and colored my own hair-that's why i went to dark brown hair.
-brought lunch to work
-got a second job for 6 mos-that took away the luxury of time with my friends and DH
-of course i completely cut-back on shopping

ETA: i really cut back on starbucks! i think i had it once a month when i was up to about 2-3x a week before the enagagement (we have on in my office building.) that saved a bunch!

Skipped vacations, shopping.. hmm I don't think I remember what that is. We haven't bought gifts for each other in a very long time. It's sad but it's what you have to do for that one day. We sold a lot of our old stuff on Ebay to make up some of the money. But it's tough

We worked out our budget so that we could pretty much live life normally.
We still went out regulary, but I did cut back on clothes shopping. He cut back on tech gadgets.
And....I was living at home at the time, so that was a HUGE help in regards to saving.

We're paying for everything...100% by ourselves... We're cutting back on dinners, gifts, lunches...things like that...but we still have no clue how we're going to make it in the end. I know we can do it...but part of my wants it to be over so we can pay it all off once and for all!

We never eat out anymore
