i would keep it and learn to love it. Not matter what i wouldnt change my e-ring. the only thing i would change is if he got it for me in yellow gold bc i NEVER wear yellow gold... so i would get it dipped in white gold. but i would never change the diamond or setting. If we won the lottery i STILL wouldnt get a new e-ring... i would get a nice big fat diamond for my other hand.

Hmmmm, I never thought about getting an e-ring that I wouldn't like. FH and I went looking about a yr ago and he asked me to pick out styles that I like. I gave him a few choices...he did good. He gave me a ring that I ABSOLUTELY love!!!
I have to post pictures, but I have an a round brillant stone on a diamond enternity band that the diamonds go all the way around. I stare at it everyday
BUT, if I was to get a ring that I didn't like, I don't know if I would make him get me a new ring...I would learn to love it because it came from FH and there's more to a love than a ring...It's about US and the life we will be sharing and forming with one another.

Re: QOTD: March 28 2008
I always told my FH he didn't need a ring to propose, that I'm not about the ring as much as I am about the moment of the engagement. That moment when you realize 'this is the person I want to spend the rest of my life with'. So it wouldn't bother me if he gave me a ring I didn't like or no ring. I would love whatever he got or did, cause to me it's more about the meaning behind the ring then anything, but I'm big on romance and sentimental things.
Anyway, he did get the most beautiful ring, exactly what I wanted. I've always loved the Tiffany settings, and when he proposed he even asked 'you never told me what type of ring you liked' and then pop, there was the exact ring I've always wanted. So even though it didn't matter to me, I do really love my ring, it sparkles so much. Beautiful!!!

Re: QOTD: March 28 2008
Well, I had a situation with mine- I went to have it designed custom by a jeweler of FH's family that is located in the city. I showed Lee (Jeweler) a picture of what I wanted. I picked out my diamond, setting and was all set to go. I did not know when I was getting my ring. Well, when FH proposed to me, the ring was gorgeous. However, it was not what I had wanted. The sapphires in the ring I wanted were flat. Lee set them high aligning them with the diamond. And, I thought it looked a little gaudy. When I came home and showed it to everyone, I got compliments. Everyone told me it's the most beautiful ring they have ever seen, how gorgeous it was ETC. So, I have learned to love it. I still get crazy compliments to this day. Afterall, I wanted something different and I got what I wanted!

lol well i thought of this before i even knew i was getting engaged. well we had TALKED about getting married so i knew it would happen eventually SOOOOO everytime we were at the mall or passed a jewelry store i would go in with him and say honey, if you were going to buy me an engagement ring right now which would it be? so if he picked one i didnt like i would tell him why i didnt like it and show him ones i did like. RESULT: I GOT A RING I ABSOLUTELY LOVE!!!!!!

Great question....I actually had no part in picking out my ring, we had talked about it briefly and I said I loved round stones. Well......he did an excellent job and picking it out! I love my ring and have learned to love it even more than the first day he gave it to me......
Do you ladies let others try on your ring or it hasn't come off your finger since he put it on?

I guess I would learn to love it but I know that would have never happened because I feel like fh knows my style better than I even know it!

hmm... FH never asked me what i wanted or liked, but the ring i got was perfect for me!! if i hated it, i probably wouldn't tell him... it was so much more than the ring... i'm just so happy to spend the rest of my life with him!!

Thanks Jackie!!!! We will probably see you guys tonight at Jen's house and then tomorrow for the P A R T Y!!!!
So this is a hard question ... I'm kinda fussy so if I really didn't like it I would keep it and ask for an upgrade for my one year anniversary or something.
I am lucky to have an FH that really knows me. He took me shopping for my ring MONTHS before he proposed. I picked out one I liked and he went back the next day and put down the deposit.

Re: QOTD: March 28 2008
This is tough because the last thing you want to do is hurt their feelings. I guess I would keep it for about a year or so and then change it for our anniversary....hmmm I dunno that's tough.
I made it really easy for FH, I just wanted a simple tiffany style classic solitaire and he got just that

Oh WOW, that would totally suck. I can't imagine what I would do. I think I would have to say something, but not right away. I want a ring that I can be proud of showing to people when they ask to see it. Fortunately FH has great taste in jewelry and got me the perfect ring for me...and I didn't even help him pick it out!

Re: QOTD: March 28 2008
If he gave me a ring I didn't like I would tell him nicely and then see if we could get it changed some how (different side stones or setting or whatever).
I don't think that would happen, though, because we have such similar tastes. When we did go to pick it out we both ended up liking the one I got the best.
(There's a picture of it in one of my albums).

Re: QOTD: March 28 2008
A year and a half before he proposed I was e-mailing him settings I liked in hopes that he would chose the right one lol. And when he proposed and opened the box, it was one of the ones I e-mailed to him which was my favorite one. But if he happened to get a ring that I wasn't crazy about, I'd probably learn to love it because it came from his heart and that would me more to me than anything
