~ QOTD Thursday, 9-1-11 ~

Happy September everyone!!

My question today is inspired by my very own FH:

Is there something you do now or enjoy doing now that you'd never thought you'd ever do before FH? Like something you've tried maybe because of FH and ended up liking it, even if before FH you never would have tried it?

ETA: And is there anything that you've gotten FH to do that he now likes/enjoys?

Actually, it is more the other way around. DH was never a hiker, but he likes going now with me

He still doesn't like camping (which I love!) and kayaking

For me its camping. FH and I are basically the stars of our very own 'Green Acres.' I'd rather be in the big noisy city in a four star hotel and he'd rather be outdoors, roughing it, camping under the stars.

I started camping because its something FH loves and I wanted to be a part of it. Now I've come to love it and its something I look forward to several times a year. But many times he will look at me when we're camping and just say 'Did you ever think 10 years ago you'd be camping and loving it?' Nope! No way!

i would have to say food and weekend get-a-ways.

DH is not a risk taker when it comes to food and he is very content to never try anything new.
Since he has met me, he has tried Thai food and Mexican, Japanese and a food others and he loves them now. I'm still trying to get him to try Indian...
And he never really used to go away - ever. he would take vacation and stay home. with me, i always plan something to do so we always do something every few months, even if its local or we have to stay overnight so we can get away with each other.

on the other hand, DH is a huge car fanatic. He restores classic cars and then enters them into competitions. He has a slew of trophies for his '68 Camaro and is now working on restoring his '69 convertible firebird...hence...more car shows...i thought i would hate going, but its actually a great excuse to meet up with somef riends and hang out all day (most DH's friends also do the same thing - restoring classic cars - and the wives just hang out while they compare notes)

lol fh and I have always been huge dorks but i never was an outdoorsy person. Im very allergic to bees and well the whole world apparently lol but we started going on biology hikes (bio blitszes) and looking for plants, animals and insects I know it sounds dorky but I really started loving it because I was able to photograph so many landscapes and help him find the species of something and it became fun discovering new things...omg im such a nerd! lol

Same here!

And I've gotten him to like seafood and spicy food. He never ate either before we were dating!

A couple of things. I use to hate cooking when I lived with my parents, but now that I'm married I love cooking for him and I do a pretty good job.

Before I met him I never had been camping and with him, it grew on me..ohh and bbq also.

FH has a Harley. Before we met I had never been on a motorcycle and was terrified of them. Now, I do enjoy going for rides (on the back ), especially when we can go for a ride out of NY, to someplace with open roads and less traffic

watching sport particularly hockey and baseball at first i was going with FH to the games because he's such a fan but i've really got into them now. im actually a fan now.

I was never a sports fan and now I like watching hockey with him, and he coaches so its cute to watch him with the kids. He will never tell anyone but he now watches real housewives NJ with me! We tivo it now and I can't watch it without him or he gets mad.

I got my husband into a bunch of different tv shows as well as the harry potter series...he is currently reading all the books

he didnt really get me into anything, other then maybe expanding what i eat since he is a chef

I never liked to try new foods and now I am obsessed with Indian food...FH is half egyptian so I had to broaden my food horizons real quick!!

I now LOVE to eat sausage ........
He is such a good sport and has been enjoying a lot of things with me that he may not have done in the past, such as visit wineries, stay in and snuggle on the couch, go out to dinner all the time, etc...

I didn't own a TV before I met FH, to me it didn't matter all that much. FH lives for his TV shows, and I've actually started looking forward to watching certain series with him.

Its hard for me b,c we met so young. We discovered things together. We tried hiking together for the first time and love it we bring the kids we all get excited for it. We discovered and I thanx this to mainly him foreign and independent films. We discovered new types of restaurants and foods together. We grew up together. Its crazzy to think. My favorite thing we discovered together though is parenthood. Our lil boys we have together are the best. sorry I know this isn't exactly the question.

Skiiing. I had never tried it before FH and he loves it. He has been doing it since he was 3 years old. So one of our first weekend away was to go skiing, he was a great instructor and I LOVE it now!! I used to HATE winter but i really look forward to it now for ski weekends!!!
