Don't be discouraged...it was your first time. Did you find your FH on your very first date? haha...i must have gone to over 10 places all over long island and tried on literally a hundred dresses...found many I liked but nothing 'wow'....until an unexpected trip....your dress is out there waiting for you to find it!!!

Places I liked...

Renates in Lindenhurst
Carmela's Bridal Garden in Huntington
Fantasia Bridal in Rockypoint
Bridal Elegance in Huntington, (think its huntington)

You will find it, just take your time and when you put that one on you will just know

If you are interested in a Demetrios Gown, I recommend going to Macy's Salon in Manhasset. They only carry that designer and it is not overwhelming when you walk in. Everyone was very helpful there and I found my dress the 3rd one I put on.

Good luck

I loved Lillette's in Baldwin on Merrick Road. I fell in love with the second dress I tried on and ordered it from there.

A good bridal shoppe will have someone that will help you find a dress that will look good on you. Sometimes what you think you like or what you like in a magazine in actuality looks terrible on you.... what i loved about Lillette's was that I had no idea what I wanted, but the woman in there took one look at me and immediately found dresses that flattered me and were exactly my taste. that made it soo much easier.

I also had a nice experience at Bridal Reflections in Massapequa (mixed reviews on this site though) and a terrible experience at Bridal Coutre in Manhasset.

Don't fret... you'll find it! :)

No worries! Lillette's is wonderful and so is Macy's in Huntington. I have a friend who had a bad experience in Macy's Manhasset and also a few bad experiences with Bridal Reflections so be very careful with them. Good luck!

Don't worry it was your first time, it takes alot of people 5 or 6 times before they find the one. Try narrowing it down next time, if you don't like poofy don't try any on, don't like excessive beading? steer clear of gowns with it. Once you narrow it down I think the experience gets better.

Don't get upset, you will find something you love and you will know it when the time comes because you won't be able to picture yourself in any other dress. Good luck and don't stress, don't try to make yourself find something. Go with an open mind.
Good Luck

My first time dress shopping was a bit frustrating too, but I think you need to get the first time out of your system and then go again. It gets much easier, at leats i thought so.

Here is a suggestion. i know a lot of people dont like davids bridal but they carry their dresses in all sizes so you can try on a dress that fits and get ideas and then go elsewhere. It really helps when you are able to try on a dress that zips up and you can get a real feel for a style.

I had great experiences at the 2 salons I went to
Priscilla of Boston
and
Bridal Salon of Manhasset

Wound up purchasing from the bridal salon but loved both people I worked with.
