Queens Brides: Where can I take pictures after 5:00 pm?

Hi ladies,

My ceremony is in Queens and ends at 4:00 pm. I want to take pictures outside of the church after the ceremony, but by the time we're done, Planting Fields will be closed (they close at 5 pm).

Where can I go to take nice pictures?

-Forest Park
-Astoria Park
Those are the only two I can think of right now.

My photographers told me Queens Botanical Gardens didn't have much to photograph. Is this true?

If my ceremony ends at 4:00 and my reception starts at 6:30, does it make sense to go to manhattan (central park perhaps?)

I'd be too nervous to go too far. You never know when , where and why you could hit traffic in Manhattan. Im paranoid by nature. There is always some sort of construction or the President is in town or some sort of event etc, etc.. Perhaps you should try going east of Queens since your event is in Great Neck. Great Neck is not far from Queens at all and I think you'd stand more of a chance of getting to your reception on time.

Yeah, I know... it's not worth going into manhattan and risk being late for everything. Just wanted to be sure..

My original intention was to go somewhere east of Leonard's and come back. That's why Planting Fields was such a great location for me. But the park will close before I even get there...

Any places around that area I can go?

Hmmm. Well I grew up in Roslyn Heights - not that far from Great Neck. Roslyn has a duck pond but it is usually covered in duck and goose poo. Christopher Morley Park is not that far but I dont know what they have in the way of scenery. Oh there is Clark Botanic Garden in Albertson/Roslyn on I. U. Willets Road right past the train tracks. I would go there to see what it would be like and if you need permission to shoot pictures. Though in the winter months it can be hard to tell what a garden will be like.
