Queens College and becoming a teacher.

Queens College and becoming a teacher.

I currently have my B.A. in Forensic Psychology. I went to law school and came to the conclusion that becoming a lawyer was not for me. I am now very interested in pursuing a Master's in Teaching. I know that they have a Spring Admission and that they have a deadline for Nov.1. I would just like to know whether it is difficult to get accepted in the program? If you have any info on becoming a teacher, or if you have attended Queens College please fill me in on your experience.

-Thank-you so much.

P.S.- I am interested in being a substitute teacher and would like some specific info on how I go about that. My friend mentioned something about getting finger-printed, but I was wondering whether you have to be certified?

Hi, I also went through a career change after working in the business world for 10 years. I went back to Hunter to get my Masters in Early Childhood Education. Hunter has a wonderful program. Queens seemed to have a waiting list when I wanted to get in 3 years ago. I did my undergrad there and the teachers were great and it was actually a good school.

Re: subs, I'm not very sure, but I think as long as you are working towards certification and have a bachelors it is okay (don't quote me on this), as long as its not a long term sub position.

You can check out the BOE website for NY or goto the nassau one. I'm going to try to attach the links.

Good luck, FM me if you have any q's.
