Queens girls that work in NYC..

Do any of you take the express bus into work? If so, which line? I used to think it was so much better than the subway but the service is getting worse and worse.

I take the F train. The Express Bus I would have to take is the first stop in the morning and the last at night. It would take me hours to get to midtown. I think I counted like 38 stops ... not express!
From what I heard, the city is taking over the private bus lines soon ...

I take the Express QM24 (8th ave) and it definatly saves me time in the morning. If i take the train I have to take the M to the F. It wakes me about an hour and 15 minutes.

When I take the bus i get in the office in 40 minuets. So its the bus in the morning

At night its the train. The bus stinks at night. I often get home later then I would if i take the train.

Re: Queens girls that work in NYC..

If I take the 3rd Avenue bus of my line, I get into work really quickly but if I take the 6th avenue line, it takes me almost 1.5 hours in the morning. I live in Bayside and the bus line that is near my house is only a 6th avenue line. If I drive into Whitestone, I can get a 3rd avenue and it saves me so much time.

I also heard that the city is supposed to take over. That's much better than just going out of business completely. I would HATE to have to take the subway again. I can't stand the people on the Subway.

jan05 back atcha

I get annoyed with the subway at night. But if its going to take me the same amount of time getting home on the subway then it is the train, i'll deal with the subway rather then sitting in traffic

I take the LIRR here and back home now. But I used to take the QM3 (Douglaston) home only, because if I wanted to take into the city, I would have to wake up at the crack of dawn.

UGHH Marcela the QM3 is the bus that is near my house. I can't stand that bus (I'd rather take the Whitestone bus) because there are only 3 buses in the morning and 3 at night and if you have to be in early or stay late you can't get into work!!!!

I take the 2 (bayside) or the 2a (clearview). I live in whitestone and both have stops that are walking distance to/from my house. I hate the traffic but at least I could sleep and not have to worry about freaks.

I take the QM15. It is an express bus that is NOT express by any definition,

But for me taking a bus that is a minute from my house is much easier than dealing with the stress and transfers the subway involves.

Edited to say - the reason you may see service getting worse on the buses is that the holiday season is approaching - it is horrible in November and December.

Re: Queens girls that work in NYC..

it really depends on where you live...

I used to live on the E/F subway and you couldn't beat it...much better than when I lived near the LIRR

but I think if you are off a subway/LIRR line...the express bus is the best solution

I take the LIRR from Bayside...never took the express bus....I am ashamed to say but I am not sure where the stop is.

I take LIRR - Broadway station.

I use to take the q16 to Main Street and then the 7 to the N/R.

I cut my travel time down to 55 minutes to an hour from over an 1hr and a half

Firegal: I KNOW!!! I'd take the Fresh Meadows one when I worked late I can't believe they would only have 3 buses, esp. at night, with the last one stopping by my job at 6:10..WTF is that??? I never attempted to take it into the city b/c I think it leaves at 7something in the morning .

Marcela:I used to work downtown (pre 9/11) and I used to drive into Fresh Meadows to take the Wall Street bus (QM1)

I thought about taking the bus into the city because it seems it's always around. But I live so close to 4 subway lines that I just fight the crowds and stand on the subway. I don't know if taking the bus would save me any time.

Girls, my ex used to drive for the Orange buslines and so I rode for free. Yet even still it was a L-O-N-G ride. It seems at night you'd be stuck on 57th Street for hours.....

I lived in Bayside and would take the QM2A or sometimes the QM4 down Northern.

It just seemed hit or miss. I don't know I'd prefer the LIRR to sitting in traffic on a crowded bus, sometimes standing. It has also gotten expensive.
