i'm making cones from vellum paper and attaching a bow and putting the petals in that for each person. it looks really pretty when they are all in a basket. someone else on the board made the second picture - I hope they don't mind that i borrowed it
Mine are going to be very simple, lace doily cones folded into a cone, that it, no special print, just the cone with the petals, you could probably make them very beautiful, I just feel that they are used for a max of five mintue and then are thrown in the trash, not worth the effort to me, but I have seen some that are gorgeous!!!

I made the ones with the red seal. They really weren't hard to make.
I used 80lb paper but you could probably use a slightly lighter weight paper but not regular computer paper...too flimsy.
I made a 6'' circle on the computer in Print Artist and then typed in our names and the date and love quote under them. Then I printed them up, cut them out and then stapled them together. I put a bit of hot glue along the seam so the seam wouldn't flap open and then glued the seal over the staple to cover it.
I tried making the cones out of the doillies but the double-sided tape wouldn't stick on the doiles I bought. I think they were coated with something.

stupid ques- where do you get doilies? do you get them at micheal's? i never had to sue them before so I dont know. Also do I put the petals in before I send them to the church or since the florist is delivering, do they do it..im a little confused on how to set this up..

i'm using rose petals, but the are going into the flower girls baskets. they are the only ones tossing the petals.

I did the doilies. I think I got the 8 inches ones from the 99 cents store, cut them in half and used each half for a doily. But it depends on how large you want the cone to be. I made mine pretty small. Just buy a package and test it out.
