You can. They will ultimately do it but when you go to baptize your children the priest may give you a hard time about not being married in the church.

One priest tired to re-marry by BFF and her husband on the spot at the altar!!!! They refused.

Are you having a Catholic Priest officiate your ceremony?

I believe you can still have your marriage blessed by the catholic church and it's kind of like the same thing. I am also catholic and getting married at the RH, my officiant is catholic so I am going to ask him what I have to do to get the marriage blessed.

One thing you can consider doing just to save yourselves the worry later on is go along with your wedding at the RH as planned and then have a very small informal ceremony at the church later on. Like literally have only you BM/MOH and parents attend the church as witnesses. The only drawback to this is you are probably going to have to pay for the ceremony on top of everything else, but at least you won't have the worry about everything else later on down the road with your kids.

I would love to get married at my RH but that wouldn't go over too well with members of both of our families so we are having a cermony in a church.
